Trapped one-dimensional ideal Fermi gas with a single impurity
Properties of a single impurity in a one-dimensional Fermi gas are investigated in homogeneous and trapped geometries. In a homogeneous system we use McGuire's expression [J. B. McGuire, J. Math. Phys.

Approximation Algorithms for Energy Minimization in Cloud Service Allocation under Reliability Constraints [PDF]
We consider allocation problems that arise in the context of service allocation in Clouds. More specifically, we assume on the one part that each computing resource is associated to a capacity constraint, that can be chosen using Dynamic Voltage and ...

Exactness of the Bogoliubov approximation in random external potentials
We investigate the validity of the Bogoliubov c-number approximation in the case of interacting Bose-gas in a \textit{homogeneous random} media. To take into account the possible occurence of type III generalized Bose-Einstein condensation (i.e.

Local density approximation for a perturbative equation of state
The knowledge of a series expansion of the equation of state provides a deep insight into the physical nature of a quantum system. Starting from a generic ``perturbative'' equation of state of a homogeneous ultracold gas we make predictions for the ...

HELIOS-K: An Ultrafast, Open-source Opacity Calculator for Radiative Transfer [PDF]
We present an ultrafast opacity calculator that we name HELIOS-K. It takes a line list as an input, computes the shape of each spectral line and provides an option for grouping an enormous number of lines into a manageable number of bins.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

A cost function approximation method for dynamic vehicle routing with docking and LIFO constraints
In this paper, we study a dynamic pickup and delivery problem with docking constraints. There is a homogeneous fleet of vehicles to serve pickup-and-delivery requests at given locations.
