The impact of honey bees on montane ecosystems within Tongariro National Park : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Ecology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
A study of the effects of honey bees on montane ecosystems was conducted during the summers of 1993/1994 and 1994/1995 at Tongariro National Park. Three possible effects of the introduced honey bee were examined.

Distribution and transmission of American foulbrood in honey bees [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The distribution of Paenibacillus larvae spores, the causative agent of American foulbrood, was studied on three different levels in the honey bee system; the apiary level, the colony level and the individual honey bee level.

Photoinduced, Chemoselective γ‐Alkylation of 2‐Silyloxyfurans with α‐Bromoketones: A Rapid Entry to Chiral ε‐Keto‐γ‐Butenolides

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A photoinduced, regio‐ and chemoselective γ‐alkylation of 2‐silyloxyfurans with a‐bromoketones was achieved by exploiting a photoredox catalytic process promoted by blue light. This approach provides practical and efficient access to chiral, ε‐ketobutenolides, in one step and high yields.

The effects of methyl parathion on the colony dynamics of Apis mellifera : a thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Ecology at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The detrimental effects of pesticides to honey bee colonies were assessed using a combination of electronic and manual sampling techniques. Initial experiments determined that electronic bee counters could be used to identify and monitor toxic events ...

Putting Insects on the Agenda: An Analysis of Actors in Multiple Streams for Biodiversity Conservation Policy in Germany

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The loss of biodiversity presents one of the most pressing societal challenges of our time. Insects play a crucial role for biodiversity in terms of ecosystem services and food provision. Although insects receive increasing public and academic attention, the development of policy mixes for insect conservation remains challenging.
