Effects of Group Living on Pupation in a Lady Beetle [PDF]
To further understand the lives and development habits of insects, we must know how they influence each other through pupation periods. This will ultimately help us understand how interactive insects are throughout their life. To answer this question, we

Elucidation of the transmission patterns of an insect-borne bacterium [PDF]
Quantitative data on modes of transmission are a crucial element in understanding the ecology of microorganisms associated with animals. We investigated the transmission patterns of a -proteobacterium informally known as pea aphid Bemisia-like symbiont ...

Linking Metabolomic Diversity to Pharmacological Potency in Anonidium mannii Leaf Extracts
This study investigates the metabolomic profile and pharmacological activities of extracts from Anonidium mannii leaves. The extracts were profiled using an integrated LC‐MS/GC‐MS, and evaluated for antimicrobial, antioxidant and cytotoxic activities, providing a basis for future studies and validation in more advanced biological models.

Predator searching efficiency increases in response to a variety of environmental cues associated with its prey. The sugary excretion of aphids (honeydew) has been found to act as a prey-associated cue for many aphid natural enemies. In the present study,

Plant‐Pollinator Interactions in Grasslands Established on Arable Land
We compared plant‐pollinator networks in newly established and old, permanent grasslands in a Central European agricultural landscape. Newly established grasslands showed higher pollinator visitation frequency and diversity per plant species, especially for solitary bees and syrphids, with a comparable network structure to old grasslands.

The more feeding of plant sap by aphid, the more secretion of honeydew. Determination of the amount of honeydew secreted by aphids in a specific crop variety is one of the best ways to assess the susceptibility of aphid infestation to the variety.

A Population-Based Surveillance Study of Shared Genotypes of Escherichia coli Isolates from Retail Meat and Suspected Cases of Urinary Tract Infections. [PDF]
There is increasing evidence that retail food may serve as a source of Escherichia coli that causes community-acquired urinary tract infections, but the impact of this source in a community is not known. We conducted a prospective, population-based study

ABSTRACT A study conducted in Egypt evaluated the effectiveness of chemical and microbial agents in enhancing sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum var. annuum) defenses against major pests Aphis gossypii and Thrips tabaci and their natural predators, Chrysoperla carnea and Orius insidiosus. Five foliar treatments were tested under greenhouse conditions during
