Enhancing Antifungal Activity of Nitric Oxide‐Releasing Polymers via the Incorporation of Piperine

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, Volume 114, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT As hospital‐acquired infections and antibiotic and antifungal resistance increase, there is a need for constant innovation of novel antimicrobial solutions. To this end, the endogenous free‐radical gas nitric oxide has been explored, as nitric oxide kills bacteria effectively at low levels without producing significant cytotoxic effects ...

Synthesis of USP Grade [2,3,7‐13C3]‐Nicotinamide for Human Pharmacokinetic Studies

open access: yesJournal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals, Volume 69, Issue 12, October 2026.
We prepared a 17.8‐g quantity of [2,3,7‐13C3]‐nicotinamide in five synthetic steps, with a 42% overall yield, and purified it to > 99% homogeneity, meeting USP standards for oral pharmaceutical dosing. This material is intended for tracking the movement and metabolism of nicotinamide through the human body.

Fate of Aflatoxins and Fumonisins During Gluten‐Free Pasta Processing: Untargeted 13C‐Labelling LC‐HRMS Based Approach

open access: yesJournal of Mass Spectrometry, Volume 61, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Based on previous experience and current knowledge, it is assumed that mycotoxins contaminating raw materials could be degraded or modified due to exposure to thermal and mechanical conditions during food processing, potentially resulting in degradation and/or conversion products.

Valorization of Zingiber officinale Roscoe leaf biomass: phytotoxic potential and chemical profiling toward sustainable weed management

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 13, Page 8189-8201, October 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Zingiber officinale Roscoe is widely cultivated as a spice and functional food, generating substantial amounts of aerial biomass that is commonly discarded after harvest. Within a circular‐economy framework, this study investigated the phytotoxic potential of Z.

The Impact of Agave (Agave Tequilana) Powder on the Thermal and Mechanical Properties of PLA Bio‐Based Composites

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 10, October 2026.
This study investigated PLA composites containing untreated agave powder (3–20 wt.%) as a proof‐of‐concept baseline for evaluating the effect of filler content on material performance. Low AP contents (3–5 wt.%) largely preserved the main thermal degradation behavior of PLA, whereas higher contents shifted degradation toward lower temperatures ...
