Mechanism of displacement gas kick in horizontal well drilling into deep fractured gas reservoir
The risk of well control is high when displacement gas kick occurs in the deep fractured reservoir, and improper handling can easily lead to blowout, which will seriously affect the deep well drilling.

Analysis of Retaining Wall Subjected to Earthquake Loading [PDF]
A numerical method through finite element(FEM) with two models: Elastic &Equivalent Linear was used to investigate the seismic behavior of retaining wall supporting saturated, liquefiable, cohesionless backfill soil. Horizontal/Vertical displacement,

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Numerical Modelling of the Mining Induced Horizontal Displacement [PDF]
Abstract The paper presents results of numerical calculations and modeling of mining-induced surface deformation based on Finite Element Method (FEM). Applying the numerical method discussed to calculations allows us to assume a larger number of factors, such as rock mass structure, fracture network, rock properties, etc., which ...

A Study of Horizontal Displacement of Laterally Loaded Piles using Finite Element Method
A theoretical approach is used to analyze single pile and pile in group under lateral loading using two programs. The first one used the finite element method for single pile depending on plain strain condition while the second one used the ...
