Geomagnetic effect of the Albanian earthquake on November 26, 2019

open access: yesВісник Харківського національногоуніверситету імені В.Н. Каразіна. Серія: Радіофізика та електроніка, 2020
Background. The main cause of geomagnetic disturbances is known to be space sources, processes acting in the solar wind and in the interplanetary medium, as well as falling large celestial bodies. Earthquakes also give rise to geomagnetic effects.

Nonlocomotory Robotic Strategies for Dynamic Rotation Control in Terrestrial Robots: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Terrestrial robots increasingly require rapid body rotation to maintain stability and agility in complex environments. This review shows nonlocomotory rotational control strategies that operate without ground contact, including reaction wheels, tails, bars, limbs, and thrusters.

Dynamic model and control of a new quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle with tilt-wing mechanism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this work a dynamic model of a new quadrotor aerial vehicle that is equipped with a tilt-wing mechanism is presented. The vehicle has the capabilities of vertical take-off/landing (VTOL) like a helicopter and flying horizontal like an airplane ...

An investigation on the wind profiles and gravity wave dynamics in MLT region based on the meteor radars from the Meridian Project

open access: yesEarth and Planetary Physics
The meteor radar can detect the zenith angle, azimuth, radial velocity, and altitude of meteor trails so that one can invert the wind profiles in the mesosphere and low thermosphere (MLT) region, based on the Interferometric and Doppler techniques.

Multidirectional Motion Strategy of Miniature Water Surface Robot Actuated by Single Exciter

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A novel multidirectional motion strategy on the water surface based on a single exciter is proposed, and a single‐exciter single‐plate module is developed for actuation. The driving forces generation mechanism of the module is revealed from the perspective of the asymmetric surface wave field.

Identifying Physical Interactions in Contact‐Based Robot Manipulation for Learning from Demonstration

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Robots can learn manipulation tasks from human demonstrations. This work proposes a versatile method to identify the physical interactions that occur in a demonstration, such as sequences of different contacts and interactions with mechanical constraints.

Driving Droplet by Scale Effect on Microstructured Hydrophobic Surfaces

open access: yes, 2012
A new type of water droplet transportation on microstructured hydrophobic surface is proposed and investigated experimentally and theoretically - water droplet could be driven by scale effect which is different from the traditional methods.

Transcritical rotating flow over topography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The flow of a one-and-a-half layer fluid over a three-dimensional obstacle of non-dimensional height M, relative to the lower layer depth, is investigated in the presence of rotation, the magnitude of which is measured by a non-dimensional parameter B ...

Imaging gravity waves in lower stratospheric AMSU-A radiances, Part 2: Validation case study [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2006
Two-dimensional radiance maps from Channel 9 (~60–90 hPa) of the Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU-A), acquired over southern Scandinavia on 14 January 2003, show plane-wave-like oscillations with a wavelength λh of ~400–500 km ...
