Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Different effects of oral and transdermal hormone replacement therapies on Factor IX, APC resistance, t-PA, PAI and C- reactive protein - a cross-sectional population survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The effects of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) on thrombosis risk, thrombotic variables, and the inflammatory marker C- reactive protein (CRP) may vary by route of administration (oral versus transdermal).

Pretreatment anti-Müllerian hormone predicts for loss of ovarian function after chemotherapy for early breast cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Aim: Improving survival for women with early breast cancer (eBC) requires greater attention to the consequences of treatment, including risk to ovarian function. We have assessed whether biochemical markers of the ovarian reserve might improve prediction

Menopausal hormone therapy and melanoma risk in the Australian longitudinal study on women's health

open access: yes, 2022
New evidence on the association between use of menopausal hormone therapy and increased risk of cutaneous melanoma (CM) is emerging. In the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health, we followed 18,850 postmenopausal women for a median of 13.2 ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Association between menopausal hormone therapy and risk of neurodegenerative diseases: Implications for precision hormone therapy

open access: yesAlzheimer’s & Dementia: Translational Research & Clinical Interventions, 2021
Introduction The impact of menopausal hormone therapy (HT) on age‐associated Alzheimer's and neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs) remains unresolved. To determine the effect of HT, formulation, type, and duration on risk of NDDs, a retrospective analysis ...

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Hormone Therapy and Cardiovascular Disease

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2006
As in other Western countries, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death among women in Taiwan, exceeding the mortality from cervical or breast cancer.
