Organochlorine pesticide residues in European sardine, horse mackerel and Atlantic mackerel from Portugal

This paper reports the results for the surveillance of nine organochlorine pesticides (HCH isomers (alpha, beta, e, gamma), p,p'-DDD, p,p'-DDT, p,p'-DDE, p,p'-DDD, HCB and aldrin) in muscle of three fish species, European pilchard (Sardina pilchardus), Atlantic horse mackerel (Trachurus trachurus) and Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus).

AbstractEgg identification in plankton samples is usually needed for purposes of stock assessment. Until recently, only morphological characters were used for identifying the eggs of different fish species. Late developmental stages are easily distinguishable due to pigmentation as well as egg and oil globule size range.

Report of the workshop on sexual maturity staging of mackerel and horse mackerel (WKMSMAC)

Under the EU Data Collection Regulation, maturity samples are collected for mackerel (Scomber scombrus) and horse mackerel (Trachurus trachurus). These data are used for fishery stock assessment and also for different types of studies regarding the maturation cycles of these species.
