Stereospecificity of horseradish peroxidase

Biological Chemistry, 2004
We report here on the stereospecificity observed in the action of horseradish peroxidase (HRPC) on monophenol and diphenol substrates. Several enantiomers of monophenols and o-diphenols were assayed: L-tyrosinol, D-tyrosinol, L-tyrosine, DL-tyrosine, D-tyrosine, L-dopa, DL-dopa, D-dopa, L-alpha-methyldopa, DL-alpha-methyldopa, DL-adrenaline, D ...

The glycans of horseradish peroxidase

Carbohydrate Research, 1996
Horseradish peroxidase (E.C. 1.11.1.7) isozyme c (HRPc) is a glycoprotein found to contain 21.8% carbohydrate with the average composition: 2 mol GlcNAc, 2.6 mol Man, and 0.8 mol each of Fuc and Xyl. The oligosaccharides of HRPc were investigated by a combination of High pH Anion-Exchange Chromatography with Pulsed Amperometric Detection, methylation ...

OXYGEN DIFFUSION THROUGH HORSERADISH PEROXIDASE

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1990
Abstract— The quenching by molecular oxygen of the fluorescence from a protoporphyrin IX adduct of horseradish peroxidase has been investigated using both intensity and time‐resolved techniques. The bimolecular quenching rate constant determined for this process, as evaluated by the conventional Stern‐Volmer analysis, was 2 × 108 M−1 s−1, among the ...

Chromogenic substrates for horseradish peroxidase

Analytical Biochemistry, 1991
Two new detection systems for horseradish peroxidase (HRP) have been developed for the staining of membranes used in immunoassays. These systems use dimethyl or diethyl analogues of p-phenylenediamine with 4-chloro-1-naphthol to generate a blue product or 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone hydrazone with 4-chloro-1-naphthol to generate a red product.

Preparation of Horseradish Peroxidase-Labeled Probes

Molecular Biotechnology, 1996
The direct labeling of nucleic acid probes with horseradish peroxidase (HRP) may be used in many membrane hybridization applications, including Southern blots, Northern blots, colony and plaque screening, PCR products detection/identification. This article describes the preparation method, which involves the labeling of a single-stranded nucleic acid ...

Hollow gold nanoparticles encapsulating horseradish peroxidase

Biomaterials, 2005
Hollow nanoshells of gold entrapping an enzyme, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), in the cavity of the nanoshell have been prepared in the reverse micelles by leaching out silver chloride (AgCl) from Au(shell)AgCl(core) nanoparticles with dilute ammonia solution.

Horseradish peroxidase-mediated oxidation of phenol

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1982
Abstract The oxidation of phenol by a horseradish peroxidase (HRP) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide has been investigated. The oxidation of phenol by a HRP-H2O2 system yielded o,o′- and p,p′-biphenol. p,p′-Biphenol was further oxidized to p-diphenoquinone by the HRP-H2O2 system.

Horseradish‐Peroxidase‐Catalyzed Tyrosine Click Reaction

ChemBioChem, 2017
AbstractThe efficiency of protein chemical modification on tyrosine residues with N‐methylluminol derivatives was drastically improved by using horseradish peroxidase (HRP). In the previous method, based on the use of hemin and H2O2, oxidative side reactions such as cysteine oxidation were problematic for functionalization of proteins selectively on ...

Immobilization of horseradish peroxidase onto kaolin

Bioprocess and Biosystems Engineering, 2016
Kaolin showed as a very perspective carrier for the enzyme immobilization and it was used for the adsorption of horseradish peroxidase (HRP). The effects of the enzyme concentration and pH on the immobilization efficiency were studied in the reaction with pyrogallol and anthraquinone dye C.I. Acid Violet 109 (AV 109).

Wound-induced expression of horseradish peroxidase

Plant Cell Reports, 1994
Peroxidases have been implicated in the responses of plants to physiological stress and to pathogens. Wound-induced peroxidase of horseradish (Armoracia rusticana) was studied. Total peroxidase activity was increased by wounding in cell wall fractions extracted from roots, stems and leaves of horseradish.
