Host–guest chemistry of calixarene capsules

Chemical Communications, 2000
Reversible encapsulation is one of the more recent forms of molecular recognition. Small molecule targets are completely surrounded by larger molecular assemblies and steric barriers keep the guest from escaping the host. Calix[4]arenes make useful modules for capsule construction and the review traces their history.

Host–Guest Chemistry of the Cucurbituril Family

2019
Chapter 3 describes the supramolecular host–guest chemistry of unmodified cucurbit[n]urils (single-cavity CB[n], n=5–8, 10, and twisted tCB[n], n=13–15). The ranges of host–guest complexes formed with the single-cavity and twisted CB[n] hosts are surveyed, and their applications, notably in the field of drug and biomolecule recognition, are described ...

The Host-Guest Chemistry of Resorcinarenes [1]

1994
Conformations, acid-base and supramolecular properties of phenolic metacyclophanes obtained from the condensation of resorcinol with aldehydes are discussed, including the mechanisms involved in the formation of these macrocycles. The strong binding of choline-type compounds and the inhibition of acetylcholine hydrolysis with the rccc stereoisomers is ...
