This study aims to explore the feasibility of using a structure inspired by the features of horsetail and human spine as the potential helmet liner, targeting at mitigation of acceleration‐induced injuries. A parametric study is conducted to investigate the effect of individual geometrical variables in the design, indicating its capability to reduce ...

A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

Microstructure and plastic properties of mg-Li alloys smelted in vacuum induction furnaces after hot working [PDF]
The paper analyses the characteristics of plasticity and microstructure of magnesium alloys with lithium meant for hot plastic working with different lithium content. The alloys were prepared in conditions of vacuum smelting. Achieved ingots were subject

Giant-dipole Resonance and the Deformation of Hot, Rotating Nuclei [PDF]
The development of nuclear shapes under the extreme conditions of high spin and/or temperature is examined. Scaling properties are used to demonstrate universal properties of both thermal expectation values of nuclear shapes as well as the minima of the ...

Characterization of Hot Deformation of CW602N Brass
Alpha brasses (in principle single-phase solid solution alloys containing less than 35% Zn) are usually processed by extrusion, forging or rolling. Although these materials are of widespread use, few detailed studies of the flow behavior of brass at high temperature are available.

Numerical Simulation of Deformation in Hot Runner Manifold
This study simulated the deformation of a hot runner manifold and nozzle assembly during operation, aiming to address potential leaks and premature failure. Both thermal and mechanical models were used simultaneously to accurately capture system behavior. A simplified set of boundary conditions was proposed for efficient problem-solving.

Hot Deformation Behavior of Haynes 25 by the Hot Tensile Test [PDF]
In the present work, hot tensile behavior of Haynes 25 Co-base alloy was investigated in the temperature range of 950-1200 ˚C and 0.1 s-1. Thermodynamic calculations showed that M23C6 and M6C carbides were stable below 1000 ˚C and above 1050 ˚C, respectively. Stress-strain curves also indicated an unusual trend of strain fracture.
