The hot deformation behaviors and constitutive modeling of Hastelloy C276

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2023
Hastelloy C276 is widely used in the new generation of nuclear power plants, and hot deformation is the optimum way to form the C276 part. In this investigation, the hot deformation and constitutive modeling of Hastelloy C276 alloy are researched, and ...

Hot Deformation Behaviors of Titanium Particles Reinforced Az91 Composite

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
Titanium (Ti) particles reinforced AZ91 matrix composite (Tip/AZ91) was prepared by powder metallurgy method. In the present work, we investigated the hot deformation behavior of Tip/AZ91 composite by isothermal compression tests at a range of temperature from 250 °C to 400 °C and strain rates from 0.001 s−1 to 1 s−1.

Electrochemical Evaluation of Compressed Selective Laser Melted AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg Alloys in Chloride Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

Optimization of process parameters of Zy4/TRISO composite using processing maps and breakage rate

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
Coated fuel particles have been developed into isotropic tristructure (TRISO) for the high-temperature gas reactors. The Zy4/TRISO composite belongs to a Zy4 matrix with distributed coated surrogated nuclear fuel particles (ZrO2 kernel).

High-temperature mechanical behavior of polycrystalline yttrium-doped barium cerate perovskite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The high-temperature mechanical properties of the mixed ionic-electronic conductor perovskite BaCe0.95Y0.05O3-δ with average grain size of 0.40μm have been studied in compression between 1100 and 1300°C in air at different initial strain rates.

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

3D finite element modeling of edge and width drop behavior in hot rolling mill [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Hot rough rolling is a conventional forming process in modern steelmaking practice in which high deformations are applied to a steel slab at high temperatures.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Exploring hot deformation mechanism and precipitation behavior of Fe–5.6Mn–0.18C–1.1Al(–0.1Ti–0.22Mo) steels through physical modeling and microstructure characterization

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
This study investigated the hot deformation mechanism and precipitation behavior of Fe–5.6Mn–0.18C-1.1Al(–0.1Ti–0.22Mo) steels through hot compression tests conducted at temperatures ranging from 750 °C to 1150 °C and strain rates from 0.01 s−1 to 1 s−1.

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.
