Reprocessing of aluminum chips by hot backward extrusion
Production Engineering, 2016In this work the recycling of cold pressed aluminum chips by a hot backward extrusion process is investigated. By using a non-melting approach common casting losses are avoided. After cold compaction, the hot backward extrusion process is carried out with a high speed hydraulic forming press under variation of forming speed, temperature and force ...

Hot-melt extrusion of sugar-starch-pellets
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2015Sugar-starch-pellets (syn. sugar spheres) are usually manufactured through fluidized bed granulation or wet extrusion techniques. This paper introduces hot-melt extrusion (HME) as an alternative method to manufacture sugar-starch-pellets. A twin-screw extruder coupled with a Leistritz Micro Pelletizer (LMP) cutting machine was utilized for the ...

Cocrystalization and Simultaneous Agglomeration Using Hot Melt Extrusion
Pharmaceutical Research, 2010To explore hot melt extrusion (HME) as a scalable, solvent-free, continuous technology to design cocrystals in agglomerated form.Cocrystal agglomerates of ibuprofen and nicotinamide in 1:1 ratio were produced using HME at different barrel temperature profiles, screw speeds, and screw configurations.

Preliminary evaluation of hot extrusion miniaturization
Journal of Materials Science, 1999Experiments were conducted to examine the feasibility of hot extruding metals on a miniature scale thus providing a quick and cheap method of studying extrusion in general. Aluminium was successfully extruded using a new miniature hot extrusion rig, producing aluminium wires (maximum diameter 2.6 mm) as opposed to rods.

Hot Hydrostatic Extrusion Process
1985Hydrostatic extrusion was proposed as a new lubricated extrusion process about 20 years ago, although the idea was patented by J. Robertson in 1893. From that time on, the process has been applied to composite materials, special alloys, and exotic or precious metals, with the results of diverse research and development indicating its eventual ...

Using ANNs to Model Hot Extrusion Manufacturing Process
2005In metal forming processes, automatic selection of forming tools is heavily depended on the estimation of forming forces. Due to complex relationships between processes parameters like die angle, co-efficient of friction, velocity of dies, and temperature of billet for forming products with sound quality and forming forces related, there is a need to ...

The Hot Extrusion of Metal Powder Preforms
1975This paper contains a report of an investigation into the possibilities and limitations of hot extruding preforms which have been pressed, sintered and extruded under various conditions from iron powder. The variables involved in this work were initial density, sintering and extruding temperature, sintering time and area reduction ratio.
