Tribological simulation of aluminium hot extrusion
Wear, 1999Abstract Hot extrusion is a very cost efficient method of aluminium forming. One limitation for further improvement of cost reduction is wear of the bearing surface on the die which deteriorates the dimensional tolerance and surface quality of the profile.

Die Failures in Copper Hot Extrusion
Advanced Materials Research, 2015Low life service of steel dies used in copper extrusion brought us to inspect several discarded copper hot extrusion dies in order to identify failures and failure mechanisms. The investigations performed are mainly hardness tests and microscopic investigations. The profiles extruded are circular, rectangular and hexagonal.

Die design for axisymmetric hot extrusion
International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 1997Abstract A comprehensive finite element model is presented to obtain the temperature distribution in the workpiece as well as in the tooling in hot and warm extrusion processes. Thermo-mechanical analysis of hot extrusion process is carried out by combining the comprehensive finite element thermal model with the deformation models [upper bound and ...

Hot Melt Extrusion Technique-A Review
Research Journal of Science and Technology, 2016Hot Melt Extrusion (HME) is well known process for the Plastic Industries but it is well accepted by the pharmaceutical industries for the last three decays. With the use of HME we can increase solubility and bio-availability of the API. HME has proven to be a robust method of producing numerous drug delivery systems like modified, controlled and ...

Composite Hot Extrusion of Functional Elements
Advanced Materials Research, 2014The composite extrusion process, which is investigated at the Institute of Forming Technology and Lightweight Construction (IUL), allows the combination of different materials within an aluminum profile. In contrast to the useage of reinforcing elements, this paper focuses on the embedding of functional elements, such as isolated electric conductors ...
