Deuterium burning in objects forming via the core accretion scenario - Brown dwarfs or planets?

open access: yes, 2012
Aims. Our aim is to study deuterium burning in objects forming according to the core accretion scenario in the hot and cold start assumption and what minimum deuterium burning mass limit is found for these objects.

Herschel observations of EXtraordinary Sources: Analysis of the full Herschel/HIFI molecular line survey of Sagittarius B2(N) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A sensitive broadband molecular line survey of the Sagittarius B2(N) star-forming region has been obtained with the HIFI instrument on the Herschel Space Observatory, offering the first high-spectral resolution look at this well-studied source in a ...

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Devising Strain Hardening Models Using Kocks–Mecking Plots—A Comparison of Model Development for Titanium Aluminides and Case Hardening Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2016
The present study focuses on the development of strain hardening models taking into account the peculiarities of titanium aluminides. In comparison to steels, whose behavior has been studied extensively in the past, titanium aluminides possess a much ...

Discovery of a very extended X-ray halo around a quiescent spiral galaxy - the "missing link" of galaxy formation

open access: yes, 2005
Hot gaseous haloes surrounding galaxies and extending well beyond the distribution of stars are a ubiquitous prediction of galaxy formation scenarios.

Hot gas and dust in a protostellar cluster near W3(OH [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We used the IRAM Interferometer to obtain sub-arcsecond resolution observations of the high-mass star-forming region W3(OH) and its surroundings at a frequency of 220 GHz.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Dissolution and Precipitation Behavior for Hot Forming of 7021 and 7075 Aluminum Alloys

open access: yesMetals, 2018
Due to their high strength, 7xxx aluminum sheets are increasingly used for structural automobile components. One of the major challenges is the formability of these alloys during the production process while retaining high strengths in service.

Extension of experimentally assembled processing maps of 10CrMo9-10 steel via a predicted dataset and the influence on overall informative possibilities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Processing maps embody a supportive tool for the optimization of hot forming processes. In the present work, based on the dynamic material model, the processing maps of 10CrMo9-10 low-alloy steel were assembled with the use of two flow curve datasets ...

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.
