A Third Star in the HAT-P-7 System and a New Dynamical Pathway to Misaligned Hot Jupiters

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The retrograde orbit of the hot Jupiter HAT-P-7b is suggestive of high-eccentricity (high-e) migration caused by dynamical interactions with a massive companion.

Performance improvement of carbon fiber‐reinforced ABS composites by introducing fullerene nanoparticles

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
Fullerene particles were incorporated with CF‐reinforced acrylonitrile–butadiene–styrene terpolymer (ABS) matrix at three different compositions by a melt‐compounding process. These insights are crucial for the optimization of conductive hybrid composites for various applications.

Planets spinning up their host stars: a twist on the age-activity relationship

open access: yes, 2013
It is a long-standing question in exoplanet research if Hot Jupiters can influence the magnetic activity of their host stars. While cool stars usually spin down with age and become inactive, an input of angular momentum through tidal interaction, as seen

Formation of Ultra-short-period Planets in Hot Jupiter Systems: Application to WASP-47

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The WASP-47 system is notable as the first known system hosting both inner and outer low-mass planetary companions around a hot Jupiter, with an ultra-short-period (USP) planet as the innermost planetary companion.

Hot Jupiter secondary eclipses measured by Kepler

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2011
Hot-Jupiters are known to be dark in visible bandpasses, mainly because of the alkali metal absorption features. The outstanding quality of the Kepler mission photometry allows a detection (or non-detection upper limits on) giant planet secondary ...

Thermosphere and exosphere of hot Jupiters [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2008
AbstractHere we describe the observations and the resulting constraints on the upper atmosphere (thermosphere and exosphere) of hot Jupiters. In particular, observations and theoretical modeling of hot-Jupiter evaporation are described. The observations allowed the discovery that the planet orbiting HD209458 has an extended atmosphere of escaping ...

Substitution of Ti by Nb in Maraging Steel: Effects on Strengthening Mechanisms and Crystallographic Behavior

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that replacing Ti with Nb in maraging steel forms nanoscale Nb–Mo particles along boundaries, strengthening the alloy without relying on Ti phases. Heat‐treatment tuning promotes uniform crystal orientation and balanced grain boundaries, enabling strong yet ductile behavior.

Atmospheric Characterization of the Hot Jupiter Kepler-13Ab [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Kepler-13Ab (= KOI-13.01) is a unique transiting hot Jupiter. It is one of very few known short-period planets orbiting a hot A-type star, making it one of the hottest planets currently known.
