Thermo-Mechanical Coupled Analysis of Hot Press Forming with 22MnB5 Steel

International Journal of Automotive Technology, 2019
This paper mainly concerns the thermo-mechanical analysis to evaluate the process parameters in the hot press forming with the 22MnB5 sheet such as the austenitization temperature, transport and quenching time for enhancing the efficiency in the production cycle. It is noted that the transport time is most influencing process parameter in the hot press

THE FORMING OF HOLLOW SHAPES IN BERYLLIUM BY LOOSE SINTERING AND HOT PRESSING

Powder Metallurgy, 1961
Two methods for forming shaped bodies in beryllium by powder metallurgy are described and compared. The requirements for uniform densification during hot pressing are discussed, and it is concluded that a double-pressing method is essential if thin-walled hemispherical shapes are required.

Spray forming of Ti 48.9Al (at.%) and subsequent hot isostatic pressing and forging

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2002
Abstract Binary Ti 48.9Al (at.%) has been processed via two different processing routes, both comprising the spray forming technology: (i) spray forming followed by hot isostatic pressing (HIP) and subsequent thermal treatments and (ii) spray forming and subsequent high temperature forging.

Synthesis of binary glass-forming oxide glasses by hot-pressing of gels

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1980
Abstract Mixed gels of SiO 2 TiO 2 , SiO 2 P 2 O 5 and SiO 2 B 2 O 3 systems were prepared by sol-gel and/or hydrolysis and polycondensation of organometallic compounds. The conversion of gel into glass was achieved by hot-pressing of the previously dehydrated gel.

Numerical Modeling of Hot Press Forming Process of Boron Steel Tube

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
A hot press forming process consists of forming at the elevated temperature and rapid quenching, which induces phase transformation and results in the press hardening of steel parts. In this study, the hot press forming process of boron steel tube was analyzed by applying different heat transfer coefficients which had been experimentally measured and ...

Mechanism study on microgroove forming by ultrasonic vibration assisted hot pressing

Precision Engineering, 2016
Abstract Microgrooves with a pitch at wave length level are increasingly needed in the optical system. Conventionally, the accuracy is low in microgroove forming due to the incomplete filling in the cavity of microgroove mold, as well as the surface flaws appearing with the adhesion of the resin material to the mold surface.

Composites based on aluminum and boron nitrides formed during hot pressing

Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics, 2009
The paper examines how MoSi2, ZrO2, and SiO2 additions influence the phase formation and properties of hot-pressed AlN–BN (АBN) composites. It is established that new hardening phases are synthesized in the hot pressing of composite materials. The developed composites have higher strength than sintered ABN and retain oxidation resistance, excellent ...

Characterization of the aluminium coating layer in the hot press forming of boron steel

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2009
Hot press forming allows geometrically complex parts to be easily formed from boron steel blanks. The rapid cooling after forming produces a product with extremely high strength. To prevent the blanks from oxidizing and decarburizing during heating, forming, and subsequent press cooling, the boron steel is supplied with an aluminium-based coating. This

Processing map for hot working of spray formed and hot isostatically pressed Al–Li alloy (UL40)

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2009
Abstract The hot deformation behavior of spray formed + HIPed Al–Li (UL40) alloy was studied using processing map technique. The map has been interpreted in terms of the microstructural processes occurring in situ with deformation, based on the values of a dimensionless parameter η which is an efficiency index of energy dissipation through ...
