Abstract We investigate vertical and horizontal energy transport and associated heating in the thermosphere due to both upward propagating and in situ generated migrating and nonmigrating diurnal and semidiurnal tides over the solar cycle 24 (2009–2019).

Expressing Bayesian Fusion as a Product of Distributions: Application to Randomized Hough Transform [PDF]
Data fusion is a common issue of mobile robotics, computer assisted medical diagnosis or behavioral control of simulated character for instance. However data sources are often noisy, opinion for experts are not known with absolute precision, and motor ...

Abstract A strong westward zonal wavenumber‐2 quasi‐4‐day wave (Q4DW) during the 2018/2019 Northern Hemisphere sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) is both captured by Aura Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) observations and our new whole neutral atmosphere data assimilation system.

Circular Degree Hough Transform [PDF]
The Circular Hough Transform (CHT) is probably the most widely used technique for detecting circular shapes within an image. This paper presents a novel variation of CHT which we call the Circular Degree Hough Transform (CDHT). The CDHT showed better performance than CHT for a number of experiments (eye localization, crater detection, etc.) included in

Abstract Dense particle‐liquid flows are common in natural flows processes. A primary challenge lies in the effective modeling of the granular stress, which is intrinsically related to the flowing state of the granular material. By developing non‐invasive experimental technique and measurement methods for internal observations based on the refractive ...

ABSTRACT Commemorative naming—naming a child after a deceased family member—is a culturally rooted practice with profound emotional and relational implications. Although previous research has explored naming traditions from sociological and cultural angles, little attention has been given to the psychological experience of those who carry such names ...

Graminoids Increase Greenhouse Gas Emissions From Thawed Permafrost at the End of the Growing Season
Field study investigating whether and to which degree graminoids further reduce soil redox and lead to more greenhouse gas emissions from thawing permafrost soil on top of hydrology and anoxia effects. Graminoids, thus, contribute to thawed permafrost soils turning to C sources rather than sinks toward the end of the growing season.
