The Vertebral Column of Flatfish: A Review

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 17, Issue 4, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Flatfish (Pleuronectiformes) encompass fascinating fish species known for their high gastronomical value, rearing performances, and market prices, which attract both economic and scientific interest. Despite these attributes, flatfish exhibit unique morphological, developmental, and biological features, as well as distinctive swimming ...

Direct‐Write Printing of Multicolor Electroluminescent Films for Stretchable Display

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 10, May 22, 2025.
This work presents a mask‐free, fully printable alternating‐current electroluminescent (PACE) film using a direct‐write printing strategy. The multicolor PACE film, available in blue, green, and orange, reaches a thickness of ≈150 µm and achieves 180 cd m⁻2 at 6 V µm⁻¹.

Theoretical Model of the Island Effect in Flexible Electronics under Equal Biaxial Stretching

open access: yesSmall, Volume 21, Issue 19, May 12, 2025.
A mechanical model of the island effect under equal biaxial stretching is established through theoretical analysis, simulation, and experimental validation. The scaling law for displacement and strain distributions reveals that the ratio of island radius to substrate length is the key governing parameter.

A Call to Protect Common Species: Bats as a Case Study

open access: yesConservation Letters, Volume 18, Issue 3, May/June 2025.
ABSTRACT The ongoing biodiversity crisis highlights the need for targeted conservation efforts, yet the focus often remains on rare and endangered species. This overlooks the vital role of common species, which are the ecological backbone of ecosystems, supporting the stability and functioning of biodiversity.

Exploring climate‐related gut microbiome variation in bumble bees: An experimental and observational perspective

open access: yesEcology, Volume 106, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract Rising temperatures negatively affect bumble bee fitness directly through physiological impacts and indirectly by disrupting mutualistic interactions between bees and other organisms, which are crucial in determining species‐specific responses to climate change.

Forecasting Range Shifts in Terrestrial Alpine Insects Under Global Warming

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 1, January 2025.
We conducted a comprehensive, semi‐quantitative review of empirical studies on contemporary range shifts in alpine insects driven by climate heating, drawing attention to methodological issues and potential biotic and abiotic factors influencing variation in response.
