Wake Up and Smell the Infected Bees: Volatile Cues of Vairimorpha Infection in Honey Bees

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Infection can modify host volatile emissions, yet effects in adult honey bees remain unexplored. Using dynamic headspace sampling and GC × GC–MS, we show that Vairimorpha spp. infection significantly alters the volatile profile of adult worker honey bees over a 14‐day time series, producing stage‐specific shifts in multivariate odour structure.

Hospital‐to‐home transition for children with asthma‐related hospitalizations: A study protocol for a pragmatic randomized controlled trial

open access: yesJournal of Hospital Medicine, Volume 21, Issue 6, Page 700-709, June 2026.
Abstract Introduction Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases of childhood with morbidity disproportionately affecting children across different racial and/or ethnic groups and socioeconomic statuses, specifically Black children and those living in poverty. Hospitalization for asthma is a significant risk factor for future readmissions.

The Role of N6‐Methyladenosine Modification in Health and Disease

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) is the most prevalent internal RNA modification in eukaryotes, acting as a pivotal epitranscriptomic regulator of RNA metabolism. This modification plays a dual role: it maintains physiological homeostasis under normal conditions but drives disease progression when dysregulated.

Mapping Immunity With Cutting‐Edge Spatial Biology and Tissue Cytometry Innovations

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review explores how spatial biology integrates multiplexed imaging and tissue cytometry to reveal immune organization within native tissue contexts. ABSTRACT The immune system operates within organized tissue landscapes, where spatial relationships between cells shape the nature and outcome of immune responses.

Acid ceramidase overactivity drives ceramide loss, leading to atopic dry skin and Th2‐skewed immune polarization

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 269, Issue 2, Page 232-247, June 2026.
Abstract Ceramide deficiency in the stratum corneum (SC) is a key etiological factor in atopic dermatitis (AD). To clarify the direct role of SC ceramide depletion in impairing SC barrier and water‐holding functions and in initiating AD‐like skin symptoms and disease‐specific molecular alterations, we generated Tg mice overexpressing a mutant form of ...

Evidence‐based guideline for clinical practice in the diagnosis, treatment, management, and prevention of recurrent wheezing in infants and toddlers in China

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, Volume 10, Issue 3, Page 199-218, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Wheezing is a common respiratory symptom in infants and toddlers, and recurrent wheezing is a significant respiratory disorder affecting this age group. Given the multifactorial etiology of recurrent wheezing, clinical practice lacks standardized diagnostic and therapeutic protocols. Recent years have witnessed substantial progress in clinical
