Investigating the insecticidal potential of Geomyces (Myxotrichaceae: Helotiales) and Mortierella (Mortierellacea: Mortierellales) isolated from Antarctica [PDF]
Fungi isolated from environmentally challenging habitats can have adaptations of potential value when developed as insect pest-controls. Fungal isolates collected from Antarctica, Geomyces sp. I, Geomyces sp. II, Mortierella signyensis and M.

Reinvestigation of Purification of Phenoloxidase from Larvae of Housefly
Phenoloxidase (Diphenoloxidase EC 1.10.3.1) was purified from an aqueous extract of the larvae of the housefly Musca domestica vicina Maquart by a procedure involving affinity chromatography on a Sepharose 4B derivative of p-aminobenzoic acid and ethylene diamine, Sepharose 4B and Sephadex G-200 gel filtrations.

Phenotypic variation of the housefly, Musca domestica: amounts and patterns of wing shape asymmetry in wild populations and laboratory colonies [PDF]
Musca domestica L. (Diptera: Muscidae) is a vector of a range variety of pathogens infecting humans and animals. During a year, housefly experiences serial population bottlenecks resulted in reduction of genetic diversity.

Subunit structure of phenoloxidase purified from the larvae of housefly.
The subunit structure of phenoloxidase from the larvae of housefly, Musca domestica vicina Maquart, was investigated by urea treatment, SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and electron microscopy. Phenoloxidase was dissociated into a single type of subunit (MW 6.5 × 104) by 5 m urea treatment.

Darkling beetles (Alphitobius diaperinus) and their larvae as potential vectors for the transfer of Campylobacter jejuni and Salmonella enterica serovar paratyphi B variant Java between successive broiler flocks [PDF]
Broiler flocks often become infected with Campylobacter and Salmonella, and the exact contamination routes are still not fully understood. Insects like darkling beetles and their larvae may play a role in transfer of the pathogens between consecutive ...

Antimicrobial peptides in housefly larvae (musca domestica) affect intestinal lactobacillus acidophilus and mucosal epithelial cells in salmonella pullorum-infected chickens [PDF]
Pullorum disease, which is one the most serious intestinal diseases in poultry production, is generally treated by adding antibiotics to the feed of infected chickens.
