Phase Transition Behavior of HPMC-AA and Preparation of HPMC-PAA Nanogels [PDF]
The lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) under mixing with acrylic acid (AA) monomer has been studied by turbidity measurements. It has been found that the LCST of the HPMC was drastically reduced from 60°C to 38°C with the increase of the concentration of AA, while the HPMC is kept at 0.5 wt%.

Functionalisation of Polysaccharides for the Purposes of Electrospinning: A Case Study Using HPMC and Si-HPMC [PDF]
Hydrogels are a suitable scaffold material for a variety of tissue engineering applications. However, these materials have a weak structure and require reinforcement. Integrating electrospun fibers could strengthen material properties. This study created fibers and evaluated the influence of the presence of polar head groups within a polysaccharide ...

Swelling Kinetics of HPMC Tablets
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) is a cellulosic polymer widely employed in tablets formulation. In contact with biological fluids, it undergoes a glassy–rubbery transition and drug release is strongly influenced by swelling. We study the kinetic parameters of a classical phenomenological model (Astarita and Sarti), which describes the velocity of ...

The effect of organic salts on HPMC [PDF]
The presence of organic salts as drug counter-ions and buffers in hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) matrices is often overlooked. This study investigates their potential to influence polymer solution properties and matrix drug release kinetics.\ud A homologous series of aliphatic organic salts influenced solution and matrix properties in rank order ...

Antimicrobial and Physicochemical Properties of Chitosan−HPMC-Based Films
To prepare composite films from biopolymers with anti-listerial activity and moisture barrier properties, the antimicrobial efficiency of chitosan-hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) films, chitosan-HPMC films associated with lipid, and chitosan-HPMC films chemically modified by cross-linking were evaluated.

HPMC viscous fluid for centrifuge modelling
Dynamic pile installation is a challenging aspect of the realization of offshore infrastructure. Due to the large-scale and specialized hardware involved, researchers have resorted to centrifuge modelling to study this process at a manageable scale and in a controlled environment.

Polymer Percolation Threshold in Multi-Component HPMC Matrices Tablets [PDF]
Introduction: The percolation theory studies the critical points or percolation thresholds of the system, where onecomponent of the system undergoes a geometrical phase transition, starting to connect the whole system.

Production of HPMC-films for lactase administration [PDF]
The present work aimed to develop and characterize HPMC-films (HFs) based on hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) with the addition of lactase for later application in the reduction of lactose in whole milk. The HFs were produced by the casting technique, with the addition of 1, 3, 5 and 7 g of lactase per 100 g of filmogenic solution.

Water Retention Mechanism of HPMC in Cement Mortar [PDF]
In this paper, the effect of HPMC (hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose ether) on the cement mortar water retention (WR) and composition was studied. The relationship between the plastic viscosity and water retention of cement mortar was revealed. The results showed that HPMC formed a colloidal film with a 3D network structure in water, which changed the ...
