Structure and magnetic properties of nanocrystalline SmCo5 and SmCo3Cu2 prepared by using high-pressure torsion method

open access: yesAIP Advances
Nanocrystalline SmCo5 and SmCo3Cu2 alloys were prepared by using high pressure torsion (HPT) method. The effect of severe plastic deformation of HPT on the structure and magnetic properties of the samples were investigated systematically.

Coupling of both a transactivation module and a double‐stranded DNA‐binding domain boosts Cas12i3 variant‐based cytosine and adenine editing in plants

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Fusions of a transactivation module and a double‐stranded DNA‐binding domain produced effective Cas12i3 variant‐based cytosine and adenine base editors, with improved C‐to‐T and A‐to‐G base editing efficiency and expanded editing window. Generated herbicide‐resistant rice germplasm by using these base editors demonstrates their potential for precise ...

Tolerance to excess-boron conditions acquired by stabilization of a BOR1 variant with weak polarity in Arabidopsis

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2016
Boron (B) is a metalloid that is essential for plant growth but is toxic when present in excess. Arabidopsis BOR1 is a borate exporter, facilitating B translocation from root to shoot under limited-B conditions.

Arabidopsis inositol polyphosphate kinase activities regulate COP9 deneddylation functions in phosphate homeostasis

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Plant phosphate (Pi) homeostasis relies on coordinated activities of the inositol polyphosphate kinases IPK1 and ITPK1, which balance localized InsP7 biosynthesis to control COP9 signalosome (CSN)‐dependent deneddylation of cullin 1 (CUL1). Perturbation of this equilibrium affects the stability of SPX4, a key negative regulator of phosphate starvation ...

Persisting Hypercalcemia and Hyperparathyroidism after Kidney Transplantation Have a Negative Impact on Graft and Patient Survival

open access: yesDiagnostics
Hyperparathyroidism (HPT) with hypercalcemia, often deemed irreversible and detrimental to graft survival post-kidney transplantation (KT), prompts pre-transplant parathyroidectomy in hypercalcemic patients.

ZmMS1 coordinates ROS homeostasis, lipid allocation, and male fertility for maize breeding applications

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
The redox‐sensitive transcriptional repressor ZmMS1 coordinates reactive oxygen species homeostasis and lipid allocation for pollen exine and anther cuticle formation. Loss or precocious expression of ZmMS1 causes male sterility. Constitutive overexpression induces dwarfism and semi‐sterility. These findings enable flexible maize male‐sterility systems

Haptoglobin increases with age in rat hippocampus and modulates Apolipoprotein E mediated cholesterol trafficking in neuroblastoma cell lines

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2014
Alteration in cholesterol metabolism has been implicated in the pathogenesis of several neurodegenerative disorders. Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) is the major component of brain lipoproteins supporting cholesterol transport.

CP32, a novel anti‐oomycete cyclic peptide, interferes with cell‐wall deposition in Phytophthora infestans

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
The small cyclic peptide CP32 effectively inhibits Phytophthora infestans, the causal agent of potato and tomato late blight. Combined biochemical and phenotypic analyses demonstrate that CP32 disrupts cell wall biosynthesis, a key process in pathogen infection, resulting in a marked reduction of disease symptoms in plants.
