Dyslipidaemia, Chronic Kidney Disease and Diabetes Mellitus: A Triple Threat to Cardiovascular Health

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus (DM) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) frequently coexist and together create a ‘triple threat’ with dyslipidaemia, enhancing the risk for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) leads to altered lipid metabolism through insulin resistance, inflammation and oxidative stress resulting in an ...

Predicting the Long‐Term Risk of Type 2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease With Orforglipron in People With Overweight or Obesity: A Post Hoc Analysis of the ATTAIN‐1 Trial

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To assess change in long‐term predicted 10‐year cardiometabolic risk (Type 2 diabetes [T2D] and cardiovascular disease [CVD]) in adults with overweight or obesity without T2D. Methods This post hoc analysis used data from ATTAIN‐1, a Phase 3 trial in adults (≥ 18 years) with obesity (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2) or overweight (BMI ≥ 27 kg/m2 with

InflaMix Predicts Severe CRS, ICU Admission, and Progression‐Free Survival After CAR‐T Therapy in LBCL

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Baseline systemic inflammation has emerged as a determinant of outcome after CD19‐directed CAR‐T therapy. We evaluated the prognostic performance of the recently developed INFLAmmation MIXture Model (InflaMix) in an independent bicentric cohort of patients with large B‐cell lymphoma (LBCL) receiving commercial CAR‐T cells, focusing ...

Differential Cardiometabolic Risk Profiles of Lean and Obese Metabolic Dysfunction–Associated Steatotic Liver Disease: A Longitudinal Health Checkup Cohort Study

open access: yesHepatology Research, EarlyView.
Lean and Obese MASLD shared a common cardiometabolic basis, but the relative contributions of individual risk factors differed between phenotypes. Longitudinal changes in triglycerides and ALT were associated with incident MASLD in both phenotypes, reflecting evolving metabolic–hepatic vulnerability.

Periodontal Status of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus and Healthy Pregnant Women: A Case–Control Pilot Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dental Hygiene, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims This cross‐sectional ‘case–control’ pilot study aimed to compare the size of periodontal wounds, periodontal status and total inflammatory burden between pregnant women with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and non‐diabetic pregnant women. Methods Fifteen T1DM pregnant women and 15 healthy pregnant women were included. Clinical parameters (

Preliminary Validation of the Early Sacroiliitis Screening Tool (ESHST) for Identifying Hidradenitis Suppurativa Patients at High Risk of Spondyloarthritis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
Development and preliminary validation of the Early Sacroiliitis Screening Tool (ESHST), a dermatology‐oriented screening questionnaire for identifying hidradenitis suppurativa patients at increased risk of spondyloarthritis. ABSTRACT Background Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is increasingly recognized as a systemic inflammatory disease associated with ...

Preventing infections after CD19‐directed chimeric antigen receptor T‐cell therapies for lymphoma: a consensus practice statement

open access: yesInternal Medicine Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T‐cell therapies directed against cluster of differentiation 19 (CD19) are a standard of care for relapsed or refractory B‐cell lymphomas. Infection is the leading cause of non‐relapse mortality, and this risk may persist for years after CAR T‐cell receipt.

Research Review: A scoping review exploring the needs, barriers, and facilitators to the collection of biological data in adolescence for mental health research

open access: yesJournal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, EarlyView.
Background There is increasing recognition of the challenge of representativeness in data, including economic, social, and ethnic diversity, in biological mental health research. This is a particular challenge in adolescence, where brain and body development are impacted by the environment.

Systemic, Lifestyle and Environmental Modifying Factors in the Pathogenesis of Periodontitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
A variety of impacting factors in the pathogenesis of periodontitis exist, including systemic, lifestyle, and environmental factors. This review highlights the manifold mechanistic aspects of the link between the pathogenesis of periodontitis, addressing these numerous factors to supplement the long‐standing knowledge of the progression of the disease.
