Association of serum fetuin-A and biochemical parameters in hemodialysis patients. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Fetuin-A, a hepatic glycoprotein present in the circulation, is a potential inhibitor for systemic calcification. The main aim of this study was to evaluate the association between fetuin-A and other biochemical parameters as facilitator factors for ...

Rheumatoid Arthritis and Coronary Artery Calcium Progression: A Case Cohort Analysis from ELSA‐Brasil

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective To investigate the association between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and coronary artery calcium (CAC) prevalence, incidence, and progression over four years in adults without prior cardiovascular disease. Methods A case‐cohort study within ELSA‐Brasil included 585 participants (86 RA, 499 controls). Longitudinal analyses were restricted to those

Ascitic Fluid High Sensitive C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP). A Prognostic Marker in Cirrhosis with Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2016
Introduction: C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is an acute phase reactant. Its level increases in the presence of acute or chronic inflammation and infections. High sensitive CRP (hs-CRP) is more sensitive than CRP as an inflammatory marker.

AMPKα, hs-CRP and FcγR in diabetic nephropathy and drug intervention

open access: yesExperimental and Therapeutic Medicine, 2018
The aim of this study was to investigate the roles of AMP-activated protein kinase α subunit (AMPKα), hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and Fcγ receptor (FcγR) in diabetic nephropathy and drug intervention effects. Sixty Sprague Dawley male rats were randomly divided into the control (n=30) and observation (n=30) groups.

Atomic Layer Deposition in Transistors and Monolithic 3D Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transistors are fundamental building blocks of modern electronics. This review summarizes recent progress in atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the synthesis of two‐dimensional (2D) metal oxides and transition‐metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), with particular emphasis on their enabling role in monolithic three‐dimensional (M3D) integration for next ...

Impact of chronic inflammation, assessed by hs-CRP, on the association between red cell distribution width and arterial cardiovascular disease: the Tromso Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Red cell distribution width (RDW), a measure of variability in size of circulating erythrocytes, is associated with arterial cardiovascular disease (CVD), but the underlying mechanism remains unclear.

Psoriatic nephropathy and its correlation with hs-CRP: A case control study

open access: yesIndian Dermatology Online Journal, 2020
Psoriasis is a multisystem disorder associated with various systemic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome. Renal involvement in patients with psoriasis is sparsely studied and its association is still unclear. The aim of this article was to study causal attributable renal involvement in patients with ...

CRP Deficiency Rescues Periodontitis‐Induced Hippocampal Neurogenesis Impairment by Suppressing OPC‐Derived BMP4 Signaling in Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic periodontitis elevates circulating CRP, which enters the hippocampus to upregulate BMP4 in oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs), thereby impairing neurogenesis and inducing anxiety/depression‐like behaviors in rats. Counteracting this pathway, CRP deficiency helps confer functional resilience to OPCs.

Pro-inflammatory triggers in childhood obesity: correlation between leptin, adiponectin and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein in a group of obese Portuguese children [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
INTRODUCTION: Pediatric obesity is increasingly prevalent in the Portuguese population. Adipocyte dysfunction results in the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators that are responsible for the low-grade inflammatory process that characterizes obesity.
