Expanding Polycyclic Tetramate Macrolactam (PoTeM) Core Structure Diversity by Chemo-Enzymatic Synthesis and Bioengineering. [PDF]

open access: yesAngew Chem Int Ed Engl
Polycyclic tetramate macrolactams (PoTeMs) derive from ornithine‐based lysobacterene A. To expand the PoTeM core structure carbon skeleton by a CH2‐unit, a synthetic access to lysobacterene A and an extended analog was developed, and cyclization by cognate ikarugamycin cyclases IkaBC was achieved in vitro.

Heterologous Expression and Optimization of Fermentation Conditions for Recombinant Ikarugamycin Production. [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnol Bioeng
ABSTRACT Ikarugamycin is a member of the natural product family of the polycyclic tetramate macrolactams (PoTeMs). The compound exhibits a diverse range of biological activities, including antimicrobial, antiprotozoal, anti‐leukemic, and anti‐inflammatory properties.

Coordinated control of the type IV pili and c-di-GMP-dependent antifungal antibiotic production in Lysobacter by the response regulator PilR. [PDF]

open access: yesMol Plant Pathol, 2021
PilR phosphorylation mediated by PilS down‐regulates lchD expression via DNA binding to lower c‐di‐GMP synthesis and thus accumulate c‐di‐GMP‐free Clp, which activates heat‐stable antifungal factor production via DNA binding. Abstract In the soil gammaproteobacterium Lysobacter enzymogenes, a natural fungal predator, the response regulator PilR ...

Control of Wheat Fusarium Head Blight by Heat-Stable Antifungal Factor (HSAF) from Lysobacter enzymogenes [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2019
Heat-stable antifungal factor (HSAF), which belongs to the polycyclic tetramate macrolactam family, was isolated from Lysobacter enzymogenes fermentations and exhibited inhibitory activities against a wide range of fungal pathogens. In this study, the antifungal activity of HSAF against Fusarium graminearum in vitro and in vivo was investigated.

A TonB-dependent receptor regulates antifungal HSAF biosynthesis in Lysobacter [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
AbstractLysobacter species are Gram-negative bacteria that are emerging as new sources of antibiotics, including HSAF (Heat Stable Antifungal Factor), which was identified from L. enzymogenes with a new mode of action. LesR, a LuxR solo, was recently shown to regulate the HSAF biosynthesis via an unidentified mechanism in L. enzymogenes OH11.

Diffusion Hammerstein Spline Adaptive Filtering Based on Orthogonal Gradient Adaptive Algorithm

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
In this paper, we propose a class of nonlinear diffusion filtering based on Hammerstein function with the spline adaptive filter (HSAF) implemented by normalised version of orthogonal gradient adaptive (NOGA) algorithm over the distributed network ...

Identification of atypical T4SS effector proteins mediating bacterial defense

open access: yesmLife, Volume 2, Issue 3, Page 295-307, September 2023., 2023
Abstract To remain competitive, proteobacteria use various contact‐dependent weapon systems to defend against microbial competitors. The bacterial‐killing type IV secretion system (T4SS) is one such powerful weapon. It commonly controls the killing/competition between species by secreting the lethal T4SS effector (T4E) proteins carrying conserved ...

Spatiotemporal variability in precipitation‐growth association of Betula nana in the Siberian lowland tundra

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 111, Issue 9, Page 1882-1904, September 2023., 2023
The association between secondary growth of Betula nana and precipitation in the Siberian lowland tundra is regulated by (i) macro‐ (kilometre‐scale) and micro‐topographical (metre‐scale) gradients, (ii) colimitation between temperature and moisture and (iii) nonlinear responses to precipitation extremes.

Interoperability among hospitals treating populations that have been marginalized

open access: yesHealth Services Research, Volume 58, Issue 4, Page 853-864, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Objective To test whether differences in hospital interoperability are related to the extent to which hospitals treat groups that have been economically and socially marginalized. Data Sources and Study Setting Data on 2393 non‐federal acute care hospitals in the United States from the American Hospital Association Information Technology ...

Tundra Browning in the Indigirka Lowlands (North‐Eastern Siberia) Explained by Drought, Floods and Small‐Scale Vegetation Shifts

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences, Volume 128, Issue 7, July 2023., 2023
Abstract Contrary to the general “greening of the Arctic”, the Siberian Indigirka Lowlands show strong “browning” (a decrease in the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index or “NDVI”) in various recent satellite records. Since greening and browning are generally indicative of increases and losses in photosynthetically active biomass, this browning trend
