Kinetic analysis performed on FeCrAl, SiC and alumina open‐cell foams, washcoated with PdO/Co3O4 for the lean CH4 combustion in wet & dry environments. All structures demonstrated comparable catalytic activity and excellent H2O stability over time. The activation energies were 117 and 129 kJ mol−1 in dry & wet conditions.

Lone‐Pair Shielded Radicals: Beyond the Captodative Substitution Pattern
Lone‐pair shielded radical! This work demonstrates the generality of the lone‐pair shielding effect, where a lone‐pair‐like orbital (red) shields the radical‐electron orbital (green) associated with the electron pair bond. The effect weakens the C–C bond as substituents become less electronegative, offering a useful handle for tuning bond strengths. We

The work represented in the manuscript is based on resolving the major issue of increased smoke emissions under pilot injection mode while maintaining the core benfits of it, that is, lower nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions and improved fuel economy. This was achieved by inclusion of methanol and cetane enhancer (CE) in the base fuel.
