Epidemiologic Features of HTLV-II Serologic and Molecular Evidence

Annals of Epidemiology, 2002
A literature review was performed of the three principal subpopulations most commonly associated with human T-cell lymphotropic virus type II (HTLV-II) with the view of identifying the prevalence and transmission routes of HTLV-II. These included blood donors (BDs), intravenous drug users (IVDUs), and Amerindians (Indian populations from the Americas).

No evidence of perinatal transmission of HTLV-II.

Journal of acquired immune deficiency syndromes, 1993
Two hundred twenty-eight plasma specimens collected over a 4-year period from 185 children aged 4 days to 10 years at risk for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection were tested for antibody to human T-cell lymphotropic virus type II (HTLV-II) to determine perinatal transmission of this agent.

[HTLV-I and HTLV-II virus].

Annales de biologie clinique, 1998
HTLV genomic and antigenic features, replication way as well as associated pathology are recalled herein. The epidemiologic angle and the different transmission ways are also related. HTLV infection diagnostic implements are detailed: screening and specially confirmatory tests are brought to light with the help of concrete examples interpreted ...
