Single‐crystal structure determination of psilocybin after dehydration

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section C, EarlyView.
The structures of the hydrous and first anhydrous phases of crystalline psilocybin have been determined using single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. The crystal structure of the known low‐temperature anhydrous phase of psilocybin {3‐[2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl]‐1H‐indol‐4‐yl dihydrogen phosphate, C12H17N2O4P} is reported.

Origin and application of the Lorentz factor in X‐ray diffraction

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section A, EarlyView.
This review treats the role of the Lorentz factor in quantitative analysis of X‐ray diffraction data. The origin of the Lorentz factor, its derivation and practical implementations for a variety of modern X‐ray diffraction methods are discussed. The Lorentz factor is a fundamental correction factor in quantitative analysis of X‐ray diffraction ...

A parsimonious structure model for the icosahedral quasicrystal Cd5.7Yb

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section A, EarlyView.
The paper presents a parsimonious structure model for the icosahedral Cd5.7Yb quasicrystal. It employs only spherical and elliptical occupation domains, which significantly decreases the number of parameters and the required calculation effort. Still, the model describes the characteristic structural features with considerable accuracy.A compact ...

Surface‐driven size scaling of the lattice parameter, Debye–Waller coefficient and microstrain in nanocrystals

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section A, EarlyView.
This work develops three surface‐driven nanoscale models for the diffraction‐derived lattice parameter, Debye–Waller coefficient and microstrain, clarifying why their size dependences are not equally universal. Atomistic simulations and literature data show that lattice parameter trends depend strongly on capillarity, chemistry and defects, whereas the

Influence of heme and pH on the oligomeric states of Brucella melitensis bacterioferritin

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, EarlyView.
The oligomerization of B. melitensis bacterioferritin (BmBfr) was studied using X‐ray crystallography, size‐exclusion chromatography and thermal shift analysis. These techniques allowed the characterization of both apo and holo BmBfr, highlighting the impact of heme and pH on the oligomerization mechanism.Bacterioferritin from Brucella melitensis ...
