Mechanical pressure on endothelial cells mediates remote ischaemic preconditioning‐induced neuroprotection via miR‐126

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Remote ischaemic preconditioning (RIPC) uses brief limb ischaemia to protect distant organs, but the mechanism of travel of the protective signal remains unclear. This study investigated whether endothelial cells (ECs) contribute to RIPC‐induced neuroprotection and the underlying mechanisms.

US Influence in Post‐Assad Syria and the Limits of Turkey's Leverage

open access: yesMiddle East Policy, Volume 33, Issue 4, Winter 2026.
Abstract In early 2026, the post‐Assad government in Damascus weakened the Kurdish‐led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and began integrating the group through phased incorporation and gradual reassertion of state authority. While this advanced some Turkish objectives, it demonstrated the limits of Ankara's influence: Kurdish fighters were incorporated ...

Artificial intelligence–assisted digital thyroid FNA cytology: Improved agreement and sensitivity for higher‐risk Bethesda categories with enhanced screening efficiency

open access: yesCancer Cytopathology, Volume 134, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Background Accurate cytologic classification of thyroid nodules is essential for clinical management, but interobserver variability and indeterminate interpretations remain persistent challenges. The clinical feasibility of AIxTHY, a disease‐specific deep‐learning algorithm integrated into a digital cytology platform, was evaluated for ...

Identifying Suitable Front Contacts for High‐Efficiency Cd(Se,Te) Solar Cells on Space‐Qualified Cover Glass

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, Volume 34, Issue 10, Page 1277-1291, October 2026.
Front contact selection governs interfacial stability in CdTe‐based (Cd(Se,Te)) solar cells on ultra‐thin space‐qualified cover glass. Optimized TCO/emitter combinations suppress interdiffusion and deliver up to 16.2% AM0 efficiency with high specific power, demonstrating strong potential for lightweight space photovoltaics.
