Human activities have opposing effects on distributions of narrow-ranged and widespread plant species in China

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2019
Significance Human activities can drive both species’ range contractions and expansions. Species’ responses to human activities are suggested to be influenced by their geographic range sizes. Here, we test the idea that human impacts cause range declines

Complete mitochondrial genomes of two water mite species: Hygrobates (H.) longiporus and Hygrobates (rivobates) taniguchii (Acari, Trombidiformes, Hygrobatoidea)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
We determined the complete mitochondrial genome sequences of two water mites, Hygrobates (Hygrobates) longiporus and H. (Rivobates) taniguchii. The length of the entire mitogenome of these two species is 13,721 bp and 13,770 bp long, respectively.

Evaluation of the zucker diabetic fatty (ZDF) rat as a model for human disease based on urinary peptidomic profiles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Representative animal models for diabetes-associated vascular complications are extremely relevant in assessing potential therapeutic drugs. While several rodent models for type 2 diabetes (T2D) are available, their relevance in recapitulating renal and ...

Human Neutrophil Elastase Activates Human Factor V but Inactivates Thrombin-Activated Human Factor V [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 1997
The effect of human neutrophil elastase (HNE) on human factor V (F.V) or α-thrombin–activated human factor V (F.Va) was studied in vitro by prothrombinase assays, sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), and NH2 -terminal sequence analysis.

Characteristics and attribution analysis of runoff and sediment evolution in the Wei River mainstream, China

open access: yesJournal of Water and Climate Change, 2023
This study evaluates the characteristics of river runoff and sediment changes in the Wei River mainstream over the past 50 years based on runoff and sediment data and meteorological data from 1971 to 2020 at the Huaxian hydrological station in the lower ...

Water quality evaluation using physicochemical and biological indices to characterize the integrity of the Orogodo River in sub-Saharan Africa

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Chemistry, 2022
The preliminary consequence of pollutants in water is to reduce the quality of water although this may not be immediately noticeable because of the self-purifying ability of some water bodies.

Using local temporal features of bounding boxes for walking/running classification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
For intelligent surveillance, one of the major tasks to achieve is to recognize activities present in the scene of interest. Human subjects are the most important elements in a surveillance system and it is crucial to classify human actions.

Synthesis of 1,4-Disubstituted Mono and Bis-triazolocarbo-acyclonucleoside Analogues of 9-(4-Hydroxybutyl)guanine by Cu(I)-Catalyzed Click Azide-Alkyne Cycloaddition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A series of novel mono-1,2,3-triazole and bis-1,2,3-triazole acyclonucleoside analogues of 9-(4-hydroxybutyl)guanine was prepared via copper(I)-catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of N-9 propargylpurine, N-1-propargylpyrimidines/as-triazine with the ...

Predicting Human Activities Using Stochastic Grammar [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE International Conference on Computer Vision, 2017
This paper presents a novel method to predict future human activities from partially observed RGB-D videos. Human activity prediction is generally difficult due to its non-Markovian property and the rich context between human and environments.
