Adenovirus 36 infection and daycare starting age are associated with adiposity in children and adolescents

open access: yesJornal de Pediatria, 2021
Objective: This study aimed to investigate human adenovirus 36 (Adv36) as an associated factor for adiposity in children and adolescents aged 9–12 years.

Isolation and characterization of adenoviruses persistently shed from the gastrointestinal tract of non-human primates. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2009
Adenoviruses are important human pathogens that have been developed as vectors for gene therapies and genetic vaccines. Previous studies indicated that human infections with adenoviruses are self-limiting in immunocompetent hosts with evidence of some ...

From Upper Respiratory Symptoms to Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis: Case Report of a Human Adenovirus Infection in Haploidentical Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Recipient

open access: yesPathogens, 2021
Human adenovirus infection is rare in adult population, except for in immunocompromised individuals. Recipients of allogenic haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation are reported at high risk for human adenovirus, which is often lethal when

Animal Models in Human Adenovirus Research [PDF]

open access: yesBiology, 2021
Human adenovirus (HAdV) infections cause a wide variety of clinical symptoms, ranging from mild upper respiratory tract disease to lethal outcomes, particularly in immunocompromised individuals. To date, neither widely available vaccines nor approved antiadenoviral compounds are available to efficiently deal with HAdV infections.

Hexons from adenovirus serotypes 5 and 48 differentially protect adenovirus vectors from neutralization by mouse and human serum. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Adenovirus vectors are widely used in gene therapy clinical trials, and preclinical studies with these vectors are often conducted in mice. It is therefore critical to understand whether mouse studies adequately predict the behavior of adenovirus vectors

A fatal case of viral sepsis and encephalitis in a child caused by human adenovirus type 7 infection

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2022
Adenoviruses are highly prevalent pathogens responsible for a wide range of clinical diseases, including respiratory tract infection, acute gastroenteritis, and conjunctivitis.

Complementation of human adenovirus type 5 ts mutants by human adenovirus type 12 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1975
Temperature-sensitive mutants of type 5 adenovirus belonging to eight complementation groups were complemented in mixed infection by type 12 adenovirus, whereas mutants of 7 other groups were not enhanced. In some crosses, phenotypic mixing took place. No evidence of recombination between type 5 ts mutants and type 12 was found.

Antibody to human adenovirus early antigens during acute adenovirus infections [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1981
The antibody (Ab) response to human adenovirus (AV) early antigens (EA) in acute AV infections was studied by the immunoperoxidase antibody technique for determining virus-specific immunoglobulin G (IPA-IgG). AV-EA-Ab appeared about 5 days after the onset of clinical symptoms, reached a peak 15 to 30 days later, and declined in titer after a few months.

Human Adenovirus Species D Interactions with Corneal Stromal Cells

open access: yesViruses, 2021
Notable among the many communicable agents known to infect the human cornea is the human adenovirus, with less than ten adenoviruses having corneal tropism out of more than 100 known types.

Effect of cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) on human adenoviruses is adenovirus type-dependent. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
More than 70 human adenovirus types were identified divided into 7 different species (A-G). Diseases caused by human adenoviruses are type-dependent and can range from mild to severe respiratory infections, gastrointestinal infections or eye infections ...
