Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Why human connection is the true metric of research success
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

A Modified Human Development Index
World Development, 1998Abstract This paper discusses a modified index for measuring human development. Measuring development? The UNDP's human development index
Journal of International Development, 1993AbstractThis paper critically examines the UNDP's Human Development Index (HDI). We conclude that its treatment of income is inappropriate; the lack of year‐to‐year comparability is undesirable; it is robust with respect to measurement error; and that its contribution to the assessment of development levels differs markedly among country groups.

Human Development Index: A Regional Perspective
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2023Taking development as a multi-dimensional concept invariably justifies the argument of adopting the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Human Development Index (HDI) as a measure of development. Thus, being an attempt thereof to undertake a cross-country comparative study of the trend of Human Development progress in selected countries between ...

A Development of the Human Development Index
Social Indicators Research, 2019This paper presents a variant human development index H. It resembles the human development index HDI, published annually since 1990 by the United Nations Development Programme, but it is calibrated to reflect ‘development’ as evident in the actual progression of life expectancy, education and income shown over 1990–2017 by the people of the world as a

Status of Human Development Index
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2020What is the need for Human Development? This research paper seeks to research the reasons for the emergence of the concept of Human Development. ‘Human development is a process of enlarging people’s choices’ (HDRO, 1990). The Human Development approach insists that the fundamental aim of development policy should be to expand the opportunities that ...

On A Class of Human Development Index Measures [PDF]
Using Minkowski distance function we propose a class of Human Development Index measures. Special cases of this turn out to be the popularly used linear average method as also a newly proposed displaced ideal method. Two measures of penalty are suggested.
