Ganoderma lucidum extract attenuates corticotropin-releasing hormone-induced cellular senescence in human hair follicle cells

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) is a key mediator in stress-induced hair growth inhibition. Here, we investigated the impact of stress-induced senescence and evaluated the potential of Ganoderma lucidum (GL) extract in mitigating CRH ...

Acute Foreign Body Reaction And Corneal Abrasion Secondary To Impacted Human Hair In Tarsus

open access: yesDelhi Journal of Ophthalmology, 2021
Eye injury due to foreign body is the most common cause of ocular emergency. Hair as a foreign body is very much common due to plant, pet's ad caterpillars. But human hair impacted in tarsus is very rare. Our case is unique as in the way where we found a

Nonthermal Argon Plasma Generator and Some Potential Applications

open access: yesAnnals of West University of Timisoara: Physics, 2015
A laboratory - made nonthermal plasma generator is presented. It has a diameter of 0.020 m and length of 0.155 m and contains two electrodes. The first electrode is a 2% Th-W alloy, 0.002 m in diameter bar, centred inside the generator’s body by means of

The comparative analysis of the methods for keratin extraction from sheep wool and human hair

open access: yesБіологія тварин, 2020
Nowadays, biopolymers such as keratins are widely used in biomedicine due to their low toxicity, biocompatibility, and biodegradability. At the molecular level, keratins differ from other structural proteins by a high content of disulfide bonds, which ...

Tracking Health Related Quality of Life From Diagnosis to Follow‐Up Among Australian Children With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) is one of the most treatable forms of paediatric cancer; however, there is a substantial burden of treatment‐related toxicities (TRTs). In addition, the long‐term changes in children's health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) due to toxic treatments are not well understood.

Inpatient Exposure, Confidence, and Knowledge in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology: Evaluating General Pediatric Residents During 2025 ACGME Curriculum Change

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background General pediatricians often evaluate hematologic and oncologic presentations before subspecialty consultation, yet the 2025 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) pediatric requirements reduce inpatient pediatric hematology/oncology (PHO) time, raising questions about resident readiness.

Preparation and Gas Sensing Properties of Hair-Based Carbon Sheets

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
Waste human hair was carbonized into carbon sheets by a simple carbonization method, which was studied as gas sensing materials for the first time. The effect of carbonization temperature on the structure and gas sensing properties of hair-based carbon ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
