Retained intracorneal human hair fragment: An unusual case of occupational trauma
A 32-year old male hairdresser presented with redness and irritation of the left eye for past 15 days. A fragment of hair was found embedded in deep corneal stroma with minimal scarring.

Automated Measurement of Spatially Resolved Hair-Hair Single Fiber Adhesion. [PDF]
The adhesion force between individual human hair fibers in a crosshair geometry was measured by observing their natural bending and adhesive jumps out of contact, using optical video microscopy.

3D Numerical Simulation of Hair Formation Process Using a Particle Model [PDF]
Hair is very important in determining human appearance. Although there are numerous observed data and experimental recordings for hair, a detailed mechanism of hair formation has not yet been elucidated.

ETHYL GLUCURONIDE IN HUMAN HAIR [PDF]
Ethyl glucuronide (EtG) is considered to be a promising candidate marker of alcohol consumption, but exhibits a short window of detection in blood or urine. Keratinized tissues are known to retain foreign substances and to provide a greater retrospective window of detection than body fluids.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Prednisone Concentrations in Human Hair [PDF]
In 1999, France passed a law against doping, the so-called Loi Buffet. This law was designated to protect athletes against doping consequences, particularly after long-term abuse. In 2001, this law was implemented with its practical aspects. Among them, hair sampling to document chronic exposure was considered as a valid procedure.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Human hair fibers are structurally organized as a cortex protected by an outer scaly sheath (cuticle). Developing methods to isolate these two compartments will help to elucidate their roles in hair biology and develop potential applications.

Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Investigation of formaldehyde removal from synthetic contaminated air by using human hair [PDF]
Background: Human hair can be used as an inexpensive and accessible adsorbent to remove a variety of pollutants from air. Although several studies have been done on removal of formaldehyde from wastewater by human hair, to date no study has ...
