Expert Perspective: Diagnosis and Treatment of Castleman Disease
Summary Castleman disease (CD) is a major diagnostic challenge for Rheumatologists. Unicentric CD (UCD) involves one enlarged lymph node region whereas multicentric CD (MCD) involves multiple enlarged lymph node regions. Both UCD and MCD may exhibit a wide range of symptoms that overlap with other immune‐mediated conditions.

Physics of Protein Aggregation in Normal and Accelerated Brain Aging
Soluble monomeric proteins precipitate via nucleation into insoluble amyloids in response to age‐related exposures (e.g., microbes, nanoparticles). Persistent soluble‐to‐insoluble phase transition depletes the functional proteins. In normal aging, replacement matches loss; in accelerated aging, it does not.

Statistical properties of thermodynamically predicted RNA secondary structures in viral genomes
By performing a comprehensive study on 1832 segments of 1212 complete genomes of viruses, we show that in viral genomes the hairpin structures of thermodynamically predicted RNA secondary structures are more abundant than expected under a simple random ...

Oxidative stress biomarkers are associated with visible clinical signs of a disease in frigatebird nestlings [PDF]
Infectious diseases are one of the most common threats for both domestic and wild animals, but little is known about the effects on the physiological condition and survival of wild animals.

Fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) regulates signal transduction by forming complexes with its receptors, FGF receptors (FGFRs), and heparan sulfate (HS), playing a crucial role in biological systems. Although HS has been suggested to modulate FGF/FGFR signaling as a co‐receptor, multiple hypotheses exist regarding how HS affects FGF/FGFR signaling, and

Herpesvirus 6 Infection and Febrile Seizures
The link between human herpesvirus-6 (HHV-6) and other viruses and febrile convulsions (FC) in 65 children (mean age 18 months) with a first episode of simple FC (Group 1) compared to 24 children (mean age 19 months) with a febrile syndrome without FC ...

Ubiquitin‐specific protease 7 (USP‐7) is a novel target for anticancer therapy. To further extend the structure–activity relationships of the previously USP‐7 inhibitor STIRUR‐41, a library of 5‐aminopyrazoles is reported. 1d shows a potency comparable to lead compound STIRUR‐41 and promising in silico and in vitro pharmacokinetic properties ...

Contribution of carbohydrate-related metabolism in Herpesvirus infections
Human herpesviruses are enveloped viruses with double-stranded linear DNA genomes highly prevalent in the human population. These viruses are subdivided into three subfamilies, namely alphaherpesvirinae (herpes simplex virus type 1, HSV-1; herpes simplex
