Detection of CD33 expression on monocyte surface is influenced by phagocytosis and temperature [PDF]
CD33 is a myeloid-associated marker and belongs to the sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin (Ig)-like lectin (Siglec) family. Such types of receptors are highly expressed in acute myeloid leukemia, which could be used in its treatment.

Human leukocyte antigen variation and Parkinson’s disease [PDF]
A role for the immune system in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's Disease (PD) has previously been suggested. A recent genome-wide association (GWA) study identified an association between one single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the human leucocyte antigen (HLA) region (HLA-DRA rs3129882) and PD in a population of American patients with European ...

Chimeric diphtheria toxin–CCL8 cytotoxic peptide for breast cancer management
DTCCL8 is a recombinant fusion toxin that targets cancer cells expressing chemokine receptors. By combining diphtheria toxin with CCL8, DTCCL8 binds to multiple receptors on tumor cells and induces selective cytotoxicity. This strategy enables receptor‐mediated targeting of cancer and may support the development of chemokine‐guided therapeutics ...

Human Leukocyte Antigen-DR is a Differentiation Antigen for Human Granulosa Cells1 [PDF]
We raised a murine monoclonal antibody, OG-3, which reacts with human granulosa cells. Immunohistologically, OG-3 antigen was weakly expressed on the granulosa cells of some growing and atretic follicles, but not on those of preovulatory follicles.

This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

The MHC locus and genetic susceptibility to autoimmune and infectious diseases
In the past 50 years, variants in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) locus, also known as the human leukocyte antigen (HLA), have been reported as major risk factors for complex diseases.

Cloned mouse cells with natural killer function and cloned suppressor T cells express ultrastructural and biochemical features not shared by cloned inducer T cells. [PDF]
We have examined the morphology, cytochemistry, and biochemistry of mouse leukocyte subsets by analyzing cloned leukocyte populations specialized to perform different immunologic functions.

We investigated whether hypomethylating agents (HMAs) used in myeloid malignancies induce somatic retrotransposition. Our findings indicate that HMA treatment increases L1‐encoded protein expression but does not lead to detectable de novo retrotransposition events in either patient samples or cell lines.

Human leukocyte antigen - HLA B*27: Unraveling the link to pathogenesis
The association of spondyloarthritis (SpA) with human leukocyte antigen-B*27 (HLA-B*27) is one of the strongest known for a non-monogenic disease.
