Efficacy of a four-week uphill sprint training intervention in field hockey players [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Current evidence increasingly suggests that very short, supra-maximal bouts of exercise can have significant health and performance benefits. The majority of research conducted in the area however, uses laboratory-based protocols, which can lack ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

RECOVERY OF PHYSICAL CONDITION OF THE HUMAN OPERATOR, WORKING AT HYPODYNAMY

open access: yesНаучный вестник МГТУ ГА, 2016
The article touched upon the problem of providing health to human operator in carrying out the works-rest, characterized by a special responsibility and neuro-emotional high-voltage by means of the use of physical exercise. On the example of aviation event the importance of restoring the physical conditions transition from the monotonous stage to high ...

The effects of human disturbance on the activity of wild reindeer in different physical condition

open access: yesRangifer, 1988
<p>We compared two Norwegian wild reindeer herds, Knutsho in excellent physical condition and Hardangervidda in poor physical condition, before and during disturbance by human hunters in order to test whether physical condition effected foraging strategy under stress.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Plyometric jump training micro- and high-dose effects on amateur basketball players athletic performance: a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
PurposeTo compare the effects of a 4-week plyometric training program involving microdosing (MPT; four sessions per week, 400 total jumps) and highdosing (HPT; 2 sessions per week, 800 total jumps) on athletic performance in male amateur basketball ...

What is a model, why people don't trust them, and why they should [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
It is easier to make one s way in the world if one has some sort of expectation of the world s future behaviour. Even when facing a very complex problem, we are rarely in a state of full ignorance: some expectations of system behaviour and the level of ...
