Anticipatory Cortisol Regulation During Competition in Elite Female Field Hockey Players
ABSTRACT Research examining the cortisol awakening response (CAR) in elite female athletes during official competition remains limited, particularly under ecologically valid high‐stakes conditions. This study investigated associations between pre‐competitive Delta CAR, competitive outcome, anxiety‐related variables, and cortisol fluctuations on an ...

ABSTRACT A maximum parsimony analysis based on morphological characters (23 taxa; 98 characters; 1951 scorings) was conducted to test the monophyly of Discocyrtulus Roewer, 1927, and to assess its phylogenetic relationships within Gonyleptidae. The results recover the species currently assigned to Discocyrtulus as phylogenetically distant from ...

Background and Purpose α‐Synucleinopathies are neurodegenerative disorders characterized by the aggregation and propagation of misfolded α‐synuclein. In Parkinson's disease (PD), the most common α‐synucleinopathy, the progression of motor and nonmotor deficits, and dopaminergic neuron loss, are closely linked to the spreading of misfolded α‐synuclein ...

Temperature and Ultraviolet Radiation Influence the Skin Microbiome of Humpback Whales
ABSTRACT The skin microbiome of humpback whales harbours diverse microbial communities that play a crucial role in host skin protection and environmental interaction. However, studies on cetacean skin microbiomes in the Southern Hemisphere focus on feeding grounds, with limited information on microbiome dynamics at breeding grounds and during migration

The genetic architecture of leaf vein density and its importance for photosynthesis in maize
Vein types in maize leaves. Summary Leaf venation density has significantly increased during plant evolution. Higher densities are observed in angiosperms compared with early land plants, and among angiosperms, recently diverged C4 species have the highest values.
