Continuous Positive Airway Pressure: Is it a route for infection in those with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea? [PDF]

open access: yesSleep Science
Introduction: Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the standard treatment for obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), with limited data about the prevalence of respiratory infections and microbial colonization in these patients.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Five probable factors responsible for the COVID-associated mucormycosis outbreak in India

open access: yesInternational Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2021
The second wave of COVID-19 due to the delta variant (B.1.617.2) led to a rapid rise in total coronavirus and COVID-associated mucormycosis cases reported from India.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Monitoring of the Aircraft Cabin Environment via a Wireless Sensor Network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Wireless sensor networks consist of physically distributed autonomous sensor nodes that cooperatively monitor physical or environmental conditions. The key benefit of wireless sensor networks is that they are capable of generating a more complete view of

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Highly Efficient, Flexible, and Recyclable Air Filters Using Polyimide Films with Patterned Thru-Holes Fabricated by Ion Milling

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
We present the first demonstration of the environmental application of a polyimide film (Kapton) with patterned thru-holes as a novel, efficient, flexible, recyclable, and active particulate matter (PM) air filter. The Kapton air filter captures PM using

A Correlation of Overall Mass Transfer Coefficient of Water Transport in a Hollow-Fiber Membrane Module via an Artificial Neural Network Approach

open access: yesMembranes, 2022
Water transport in a hollow-fiber membrane depends on mass convection around the tube, mass convection inside the tube, and water diffusion through the membrane tube.
