Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Frequency of Humidifier and Humidifier Disinfectant Usage in Gyeonggi Provine

open access: yesEnvironmental Health and Toxicology, 2012
This study is a cross-sectional study to investigate the frequency of humidifier and humidifier disinfectant usage in the general population.A questionnaire was applied to 94 subjects (46 male, 48 female) from the general population of Gyeonggi Province. The questionnaire consisted of 3 scales (general characteristics, 5 items about humidifier usage, 5

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Numerical Analysis of an Air Humidification System Using Computational Fluid Dynamics

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2022
Air humidification systems are in demand in many industrial and municipal sectors. Bubble columns are one of the most common forms of laboratory-scale humidifiers.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Modified Effectiveness Model for Crossflow Packed-Bed Humidifiers

open access: yes, 2018
A model for the energy effectiveness of cross-flow packed-bed humidifiers is developed and compared with experimental data. The effectiveness of the humidifier is defined as the sensible and latent heat transferred to the air to the maximum total energy

Highly Efficient, Flexible, and Recyclable Air Filters Using Polyimide Films with Patterned Thru-Holes Fabricated by Ion Milling

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
We present the first demonstration of the environmental application of a polyimide film (Kapton) with patterned thru-holes as a novel, efficient, flexible, recyclable, and active particulate matter (PM) air filter. The Kapton air filter captures PM using

Five probable factors responsible for the COVID-associated mucormycosis outbreak in India

open access: yesInternational Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2021
The second wave of COVID-19 due to the delta variant (B.1.617.2) led to a rapid rise in total coronavirus and COVID-associated mucormycosis cases reported from India.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.
