Sedating effects of Humulus lupulus L. extracts
Phytomedicine, 2006It was the aim of the study to check ethanolic and CO2 extracts from Humulus lupulus for sedating activity. Both preparations reduced the spontaneous locomotor activity, increased the ketamine-induced sleeping time and reduced body temperature, confirming a central sedating effect.

Pharmacognostic and pharmacological profile of Humulus lupulus L.
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2008The present review describes the morphological, phytochemical and ethnopharmacological aspects of Humulus lupulus L. (Cannabinaceae) and summarizes the most interesting findings obtained in the preclinical and clinical research related to the plant. The female inflorescences of Humulus lupulus (hops), well-known as bittering agent in brewing industry ...

Neuropharmacological Activity of Humulus Lupulus L.
2009Abstract The traditional use of hops in the treatment of sleep disturbances has been supported by experimental studies performed in rodents, as described in the present chapter. An inhibitory influence on the central nervous system was suggested by the finding of a reduction in locomotor behavior together with an enhancement of pentobarbital ...

We demonstrate the possibility to apply SSR-PCR to the identification and differentiation of hop(Humulus lupulus L.) genotypes of the Ukrainian selection using microsatellite loci. Phyllo-genetic bonds between 13 Ukrainian cultivars of hop on the basis of SSR-markers are investigated.

Hop (Humulus lupulus L.) as a Roughage Source

Cryopreservation of Humulus lupulus L. (Hop)
2002The cultivated hop (Humulus lupulus, Cannabinaceae) is a hardy herbaceous climbing plant that is indigenous in the northern hemisphere above 32° latitude. Germany, the USA, China and the Czech Republic are the main producer countries. The Spanish production represents around 5% of the total production of the European Union, having the third place in ...

The Bitter Chemodiversity of Hops (Humulus lupulus L.)
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2016To map the chemodiversity of key bitter compounds in hops, a total of 75 different samples collected from the global hop market were analyzed for 117 key bitter tastants by means of a multiparametric HPLC-MS/MSMRM method. Among the compounds detected, 2'',3''-epoxyxanthohumol was detected for the first time in hops and iso¬xantho¬humol M was identified

Molecular diversity of hops (Humulus lupulus L.)
2005We analyzed genetic structure and diversity among hop genotypes using 25 new microsatellite markers and a set of 67 wild and cultivated hop accessions, well representing the available diversity among currently and historically used lines. Model-based clustering (Structure) placed the accessions into five gene pools that correspond to major breeding ...
