Influence of commercial MCrAlY powders on thermal cycling behaviors of TBCs with nano-structured YSZ
This study investigates the thermal cycling behavior of HVOF-MCrAlY combined with APS-nanostructured YSZ(nYSZ) thermal barrier coatings(TBCs) produced using three commercial MCrAlY powders commonly utilized by gas turbine original equipment manufacturers(

Climate‐neutral green hydrogen is produced via water electrolysis using renewable energy. This study explores using cold gas spraying to apply titanium coatings on steel bipolar plates for proton exchange membrane water electrolyzers. The coating shows effective corrosion protection, presenting a promising solution for future designs.

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

Environmental Barrier Coatings Deposited by Suspension Plasma Spraying
By taking advantages of high deposition temperature, fully crystalline, crack‐free Yb2Si2O7 EBCs were successfully obtained by suspension plasma spray. However, high amount of Yb2SiO5 phase was found in the as‐sprayed coatings. The formation mechanism of the high amount of Yb2SiO5 phase might be attributed to the high surface ration of the particle for

Through direct application of porous transport layer (PTL) on the bipolar plate (BPP) with thermal spraying, the interfacial contact resistance is improved. With the cold gas sprayed BPP–PTL coating system, a proton exchange membrane water electrolysis cell with a cell voltage of Ucell = 1.9 V can be operated up to i = 2.5 A/cm2 in a dynamic mode ...

Cladding is a proven method that boosts the surface qualities of mechanical parts by applying a layer of more durable material over a base substrate. This work responds to the needs of offshore and pressure vessels sectors by focusing on cladding a super austenitic steel onto low‐carbon steel through gas tungsten arc welding.

Numerical modeling the bonding mechanism of HVOF sprayed particles [PDF]
During high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) thermal spraying, most powder particles remain in solid state prior to the formation of coating. A finite element (FE) model is developed to study the impact of thermally sprayed solid particles on substrates and to establish the critical particle impact parameters needed for adequate bonding.
