Non‐linear coordinated control of LPMG‐based direct drive wave energy conversion system with supplementary energy storage system based on feedback linearization

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 18, Issue 15, Page 3077-3090, 16 November 2024.
This manuscript proposes a novel non‐linear coordinated control scheme for the direct drive wave energy conversion system (DDWECS) with a supplementary energy storage system (SESS) for grid integration. The control scheme aims to improve the dynamic performance under perpetual fluctuations of ocean waves and coordinate the machine‐side subsystem, the ...

The Virtual Resistance Control Strategy for HVRT of Doubly Fed Induction Wind Generators Based on Particle Swarm Optimization [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2014
Grid voltage swell will cause transient DC flux component in the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) stator windings, creating serious stator and rotor current and torque oscillation, which is more serious than influence of the voltage dip. It is found that virtual resistance manages effectively to suppress rotor current and torque oscillation, avoid

Improving the performance of grid‐connected inverters during asymmetrical faults and unbalanced grid voltages

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 18, Issue 19, Page 3097-3107, October 2024.
Short circuit faults and unbalanced grid voltage are severe transient events that inverters need to be able to pass through without disconnecting from the grid. This article proposes a voltage support control scheme to support grid voltage during asymmetrical voltage drop by utilizing an optimization problem.

A coordination control between energy storage based DVR and wind turbine for continuous fault ride‐through

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 18, Issue 14, Page 2560-2574, 26 October 2024.
An innovative adaptive mode switching scheme has been introduced for DVR, primarily focused on minimizing the amplitude of injected voltage. A variable coordination coefficient that takes into account the margin of ESS regulation power and rotor inertia is introduced, which reduces ESS compensation capacity in DVR. Impedance‐based model considering the

Transient overvoltage suppression of LCC‐HVDC sending‐end system based on DC current control optimisation

open access: yesIET Energy Systems Integration, Volume 6, Issue 2, Page 182-195, June 2024.
Abstract The receiving‐end system AC fault of the line‐commutated‐converter‐based high voltage direct current (LCC‐HVDC) will lead to commutation failure of the inverter side. During the fault and its recovery, AC transient low voltage and transient overvoltage (TOV) will occur in the sending‐end system.

A hybrid virtual–real traffic simulation approach to reproducing the spatiotemporal distribution of bridge loads

open access: yesComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Volume 39, Issue 11, Page 1699-1723, 1 June 2024.
Abstract Current traffic simulation approaches analyze vehicle loads and load effects from a statistical perspective; however, they fail to reproduce the spatiotemporal distribution of bridge loads and resultant load effects at every moment, hindering real‐time bridge health management.

Wind farm HVRT capability improvement based on coordinated reactive power control strategy

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2017
Voltage swells after grid fault clearance is one of the major causes of large‐scale wind power tripping accidents in China. In this study, reasons that led to overvoltage phenomena were researched, and factors that influence the grid overvoltage during grid fault were quantitatively analysed through simulation.
