A secured and reliable communication scheme in cognitive hybrid ARQ-aided smart city

Computers & electrical engineering, 2020
Due to advancements in communication technologies, specifically, the Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart cities, the allocation of spectral bands is a major challenge.

Hybrid-ARQ as a communications security measure

2014 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2014
We consider arbitrary Hybrid-Automatic-Repeat-Request (H-ARQ) wireless links over quasi-static Rayleigh fading channels. In this paper, we translate the repeat-request advantage of the intended receiver over potential eavesdroppers to link security. In particular, with statistical-only knowledge of the channel and noise, we find for the first time in ...

Modeling conditional FER for hybrid ARQ

IEEE Communications Letters, 2006
This letter investigates the conditional frame error rate (FER) of hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) retransmission conditioned on its previous erroneous transmission. For simplification, it is called 'conditional FER' in this letter. On the basis of theoretical analysis, this letter validates the necessity of modeling conditional FER in wireless ...

A hybrid ARQ scheme with power ramping

IEEE 54th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC Fall 2001. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37211), 2002
We propose and analyze a scheme for wireless channels, which is a combination of a hybrid type I automatic repeat request (ARQ) scheme and a power ramping. In the hybrid type I ARQ scheme, the same redundancy bits for error correction is transmitted repeatedly when a negative acknowledgment (NAK) is obtained.

Hybrid ARQ using Modulation Switching

VTC Spring 2009 - IEEE 69th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2009
Multilevel modulation schemes have variations in bit-reliabilities and each has different symbol reliabilities. Choosing the modulation scheme which has the greatest symbol reliability at target SNR on retransmissions offers more chances to get higher Hybrid ARQ performance by making the sum of total bit-reliabilities greater in the entire decoding ...

Power Control for CDMA with Hybrid-ARQ

2007 IEEE 65th Vehicular Technology Conference - VTC2007-Spring, 2007
Power control is a key air-interface management mechanism for any multiple-access CDMA-based wireless air-interface. Typically it has been used to ensure a target packet-error-rate (PER) for any user connection. In the presence of hybrid-ARQ (HARQ) on the reverse link (as in 3GPP2's EVDO-Rev A), there is additional flexibility that a power control ...

Hybrid ARQ-CQI Feedback-Based Access Scheme in Cognitive Radio Networks

IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking, 2020
In this paper, we consider a cognitive radio (CR) network where the primary network’s feedback information is utilized to develop an access scheme for the secondary network to exploit the underutilized primary spectrum resources.

Energy Optimization For Hybrid ARQ With Turbo Coding: Rate Adaptation and Allocation

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2020
We consider incremental redundancy (IR) hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) over independent block-fading channels with turbo coding. We consider different cases of channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter: the transmitter has no knowledge ...

Energy optimization for hybrid-ARQ and AMC

2017 51st Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, 2017
We consider the energy optimization of a cross-layer design which combines hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) and adaptive modulation and coding. We consider two cases: variable alphabet size with constant transmit power, and variable alphabet size with variable transmit power.

Throughput Analysis of Incremental Redundancy Hybrid ARQ for FSO-Based Satellite Systems

IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference, 2019
This paper studies the error-control protocol design for free-space optical (FSO) burst transmission in satellite communication systems. Specifically, we model and analyze the throughput performance of LEO-to-ground FSO systems over atmospheric ...
