Hybrid ARQ-Based Fairness Enhancement in Uplink WLAN
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2018Per-station fairness is one of the important and challenging issues in wireless local area network based on a contention-based medium access control protocol.

Punctured vs Rateless Codes for Hybrid ARQ
2006 IEEE Information Theory Workshop, 2006Two incremental redundancy hybrid ARQ (IR-HARQ) schemes are compared: one is based on LDPC code ensembles with random transmission assignments, the other is based on recently introduced Raptor codes. A number of important issues, such as rate and power control, and error rate performance after each transmission on time varying binary-input, symmetric ...

Convolutional code and hybrid ARQ
[Proceedings 1992] IEEE International Conference on Systems Engineering, 2003Hybrid automatic repeat request (ARQ) combined with the convolutional code is considered, and it is shown how one can realize reliable transmission near the computational cutoff rate. Particular attention is given to a hybrid ARQ and burst trapping scheme for error detection. Some results of simulation over the additive white Gaussian noise channel are

A BICM Approach to Type-II Hybrid ARQ
2006 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing Proceedings, 2006We propose a low complexity H-ARQ utilizing Bit Interleaved Coded Modulation (BICM). Our aim is to improve the reliability and bandwidth efficiency of wireless communications using high rate H-ARQ enabled by the proposed BICM option. This type-II hybrid ARQ generates incremental redundancy and diversity by varying the bit-to-symbol mapping during ...

Coded Modulation for Hybrid ARQ with Mapping Rearrangement
2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2008In this work, we propose and analyze coded modulation (CM) schemes suitable for mapping rearrangement (MaRe) in Hybrid ARQ (HARQ). Two known MaRe schemes for 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM) are first studied. We demonstrate that the performance of the studied CM receiver is intrinsically limited by the MaRe design and we propose ...

Performance Analysis of Hybrid-ARQ Characteristics in HSDPA
Wireless Personal Communications, 2006This paper describes network level simulation results for Enhanced UMTS. High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) enhances both the capacity and the peak rate of WCDMA-based systems. Link adaptation and Hybrid-Automatic Repeat reQuest (H-ARQ) are two key functions creating these enhancements.

Hybrid ARQ transmission and combining for MIMO systems
IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2003. ICC '03., 2004In this paper, we investigate several possibilities to increase the efficiency of hybrid automatic retransmission request (HARQ) for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems. At the receiver side, two HARQ combining schemes, namely pre-combining and post-combining, are discussed and analyzed. We show that pre-combining is superior to post-combining.

Hybrid-ARQ Interference Channels with Receiver Cooperation
2010 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2010A two-user uplink interference channel with hybrid automatic retransmission request (HARQ) and base station cooperation is analyzed. Two forms of base station cooperation are studied: wireless and wireline cooperation. In wireless cooperation, the first base station that decodes its desired user's message acts as a relay for the co-channel user via ...

Performance Bounds on Turbo Coded Hybrid ARQ
2007 IEEE 66th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2007In this paper, based on the transfer function bounding techniques for turbo codes, we propose performance bounds on turbo coded hybrid automatic repeat request (TC-HARQ) under additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. The bounds for both Type-I TC-HARQ and segment selective repeat (SSR)-based TC-HARQ are developed in terms of bit error rate (BER ...

A new relay assisted Hybrid ARQ scheme
2010 International Conference on Wireless Communications & Signal Processing (WCSP), 2010In this paper, we propose a new relay assisted Hybird-ARQ scheme where the two transmitting nodes (source and relay) and the two received signals (from first transmission and retransmission) are viewed as a virtual MIMO and thus the source can send new codeword when the relay is retransmitting the old codeword.
