DC fault protection structures at a DC-link node in a radial multi-terminal high-voltage direct current system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In a multi-terminal HVDC system, DC circuit breakers (DCCBs) are conventionally connected in a star-configuration to enable isolation of a DC fault from the healthy system parts.

Active distribution power system with multi-terminal DC links [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A fast power restoration operational scheme and relevant stabilizing control is proposed for active distribution power systems with multi-terminal DC network in replacement of the conventional normal open switches. A 9-feeder benchmark distribution power

Magnetic Control of Chiral Hybridized Phonon Magnetic Moments in Ferrimagnets Fe2‐xZnxMo3O8

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Helicity‐resolved magneto‐Raman spectroscopy reveals magnetic control of chiral phonon magnetic moments in polar ferrimagnet (ZnxFe2−xMo3O₈). Large spontaneous zero‐field phonon splittings, selective phonon–magnon coupling, and asymmetric Zeeman responses demonstrate that phonon chirality is governed by magnon‐phonon coupling and magnetization.

A low-cost current flow controlling interline hybrid circuit breaker combined with SCR and H-bridge sub-module

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2023
A massive number of DC circuit breaker is usually necessary to be installed to protect HVDC grids from DC faults, this will lead to high capital costs because large number of expensive IGBT-in-series are used.

Design and Experimental Tests of a Superconducting Hybrid DC Circuit Breaker [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Direct current (DC) circuit breakers are a key enabling technology for fault management in multiterminal high-voltage DC (HVDC) systems. DC fault isolation is challenging due to the high rate of rise of the fault current and the lack of natural current ...

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

Investigations on the safe stroke of mechanical HVDC vacuum circuit breaker

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Here, a DC vacuum arc interruption test based on the hybrid high-speed actuator and the method of commutation is carried out in the synthetic loop system. The safe stroke is one of the basic breaking parameters.

Successful fault current interruption on DC circuit breaker [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This study focus on the interruption capability of the DC circuit breaker employing a current commutation approach and evaluates the two main factors that determine the success rate for breaker current interruption, namely the current slope di/dt before ...

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.

Modified half-bridge modular multilevel converter for HVDC systems with DC fault ride-through capability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
One of the main challenges of voltage source converter based HVDC systems is DC faults. In this paper, two different modified half-bridge modular multilevel converter topologies are proposed.
