Role of Intrinsic Electron Trapping in Negative Charging of Amorphous Alumina

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intrinsic electron trapping in amorphous Al2O3 is examined using hybrid‐DFT models spanning a wide density range. Both spontaneous and thermally activated trapping are identified, with pronounced spontaneous localization in dense, partly crystallized structures.

Design and Development of a Hybrid Excited Claw Pole Synchronous Machine

open access: yes, 2011
The paper presents a new contactless hybrid excited claw pole synchronous machine. The excitation field is produced by both NdFeB permanent magnets mounted on the rotor, and two fixed cods embedded within machine shields, and fed from a controlled DC ...

Closed-loop, flux weakening control for hybrid excitation synchronous machines

open access: yes, 2015
The paper presents a closed loop flux weakening controller for Hybrid Excitation Synchronous Machines. The control is achieved though regulation of the voltage amplitude and of the phase angle between voltage and current.

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Research on Operation Principle and Control of Novel Hybrid Excitation Bearingless Permanent Magnet Generator

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
Under the condition of load changing, the magnetic field of traditional permanent magnet generators (PMG) is hard to be adjusted, and the mechanical bearings are significantly worn.
