Utilization of weedy rice for development of japonica hybrid rice (Oryza sativa L.)
Plant Science, 2011Two representative weedy rice lines, three typical japonica varieties and three typical indica varieties were used for 6 pairs of reciprocal crosses. The morphological traits of twelve F(1) hybrid lines, their parents and four elite cultivars were investigated for heterosis over mid-parent (HM), over parent (HP) and competitive heterosis (CH) analysis.

Anther culture of tropical japonica × indica hybrids of rice (Oryza sativa L.) [PDF]
Nine japonica × indica F1 hybrids of rice involving 6 indica and 3 japonica tropical varieties, were large scale anther cultured. The frequency of callusing anthers averaged 18.7%. The microspore-derived calli produced green plants with a mean frequency of 8.7%. Albino plants represented 61% of the shoot forming calli.

Molecular marker heterozygosity and hybrid performance in indica and japonica rice
TAG Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1996An essential assumption underlying markerbased prediction of hybrid performance is a strong linear correlation between molecular marker heterozygosity and hybrid performance or heterosis. This study was intended to investigate the extent of the correlations between molecular marker heterozygosity and hybrid performance in crosses involving two sets of ...

Genetic Analysis on Plant Type of Northern Japonica Hybrid Rice
Agricultural Sciences in China, 2008Abstract This study was designed to analyze the genetic relationship of the morphological traits of the northern japonica hybrid rice. The genetic relationship of the morphological traits of the 100 cultivars combined by the 10 sterile lines and the 10 restore lines was studied by using the principle component analysis and the SAS and QGA.

Molecularmarker diversity and hybrid sterility in indica-japonica rice crosses
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1997The partial sterility of hybrids between the indica and japonica rice subspecies of Asian cultivated rice is a serious constraint for utilizing inter-subspecific heterosis in hybrid rice breeding. In this study, we have investigated the relationship between molecular-marker polymorphism and indica-japonica hybrid fertility using a diallel set involving

Divergence in response of japonica and hybrid rice to titanium dioxide nanoparticles
Journal of Soils and Sediments, 2021The present study aimed to compare the responses of two rice cultivars to titanium dioxide nanoparticles (nTiO2), in plant performance and root-associated soil microbes, and provide a reference for the selection of nanoparticle-responsive varieties.
