Analysis of hybrid Nd:Yag laser-MAG arc welding processes [PDF]

open access: yesOptics & Laser Technology, 2011
Abstract In the hybrid laser-arc welding process, a laser beam and an electric arc are coupled in order to combine the advantages of both processes: high welding speed, low thermal load and high depth penetration thanks to the laser; less demanding on joint preparation/fit-up, typical of arc welding.

Low‐Dimensional MOF Nanoarchitectonics: Progress in MOF‐2D Material Hybrid Architectures for Energy Conversion and Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights the integration of metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and two‐dimensional (2D) materials through dimensional interface engineering. By addressing intrinsic limitations like poor conductivity and agglomeration, these hybrid architectures optimize interfacial charge and mass transport.

Welding properties of thin steel sheets by laser-arc hybrid welding: laser focused arc welding

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2003
Laser-arc hybrid welding combines the laser and arc welding processes to provide advantages not found in either. This process can weld lapped steel sheets that have a larger gap than is possible with laser welding. Blowholes form when lap-welding zinc-coated steel sheets because of the zinc that is vaporized.

Hierarchical Artificial Muscle with Nonlinear Elasticity for Antagonistic and Cyclic Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We construct hierarchical muscles by plying nylon fibers around a heating wire. The hierarchical muscle shows a J‐shaped passive curve, which shows benefit in antagonistic muscle pair and work accumulation mechanism. We also develop a computational, first‐principle model to understand the physics of both active actuation stroke and passive J‐curve ...

Helium additions to MIG shielding gas - an economic option? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
An investigation has been carried out to establish the technical and economic benefits of adding two levels of helium to a normal shielding gas. Technically no adverse issues were established using the two levels of helium, and the most significant ...

Multi‐Dimensional Conductive Nanocomposites for Flexible Electronics

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Multi‐dimensional conductive nanocomposites integrate 0D, 1D, and 2D nanomaterials through spatial structure regulation and interface engineering, achieving “1 + 1 > 2” synergistic effects. By leveraging 0D filling to reduce contact resistance, 1D bridging to construct continuous conductive paths, and 2D supporting to enhance mechanical stability ...

Weldability of high nitrogen steels: A review

open access: yesReviews on Advanced Materials Science, 2023
High nitrogen steel (HNS) have been widely used in many industrial fields in place of stainless steels. As we know, the welding is the main fabricating method of the HNS structural components. In this article, the recent investigations of joining methods
